For anyone who has looked to buy a Veillette Citron bass, you know that finding one is a rarity as they only made approximately 225 basses of the 500 instruments they produced. Serial number is 37X. Dates early 80s. Let me start by saying that the few of us who have laid fingers on a VC neck know that there are few feeling through the hands to compare - it just feels amazing up and down the neck. This one (I've had 5) is particularly fantastic in terms of connecting with the instrument and singing through your fingers. The Indian rosewood top is gorgeous as is the neck and everything else on the bass. Minimal wear. The company made high-end, handmade, neck-through guitars and basses between 1976 and 1983. Everything except the gold schaller tuners and volume pots was handmade. This bass is a superb player - low action, dead straight neck and great tone possibilities with the pickup and pole selectors. Weighs in at a wonderfully light 8.1 lbs. Ebony fingerboard and minimal fretware. Some of the less expensive models had rosewood boards. The neck is very fast and the bass sits up great for playing - perfectly balanced. The Schallers are really great true tuners and the bass doesn't go out of tune. Ready to play. The finish is gorgeous but there are a couple of stress cracks in the finish on back of the neck - I've seen this on a few other VCs - no structural issues and not going anywhere, but they appear on close inspection and in reflected light with three at the top of the neck and another 2 down near where the body meets the neck. They appear as very fine lines and are hard to see if not pointed out. The ar not into the wood, just finish hairline cracks. The finish is glossy and like new otherwise. The plastic pickup covers have some wear but the pickups function fine. What else to say - this is a rare opportunity to pickup a great plaing/sounding VCs and these are way WAY under-valued in the market. The quality matches Alembic and early BC Rich in my opinion and I own several of those. The case is ragged and may or may not be what it originally came in, but the bass will be protectively packed for shipping. 3 day inspection and return privilege. 631 807-9038
