Here's my 44-02 with Jeannie 3-ply pick guard & rare Inca silver finish. Factory Bartolini pickups & preamp. Has nice figuring on fretboard & a little bird's eye on the back of the neck. I do not know the story behind the hole for the rear strap or the minor cosemetic dings/ scratches, which are hardly noticeable on the silver & they do not affect the playability or sound in any way.
San Francisco luthier Gary Brawer recently performed a complete check (have receipts for approx $250), "PLek" & low action set-up with new set of Fodera nickel wound (.040-.100) light gauge strings.
I've received many compliments from non-bassists on it's tone & 'presence' in gig situations. Truely an exceptional bass which sounds & plays like everything you'd expect from well set-up Lakland.
