Regal Dobro Bass

SOLD!!!

Here is my Regal Dobro Bass up for sale.

This comes with a really nice Superior gig bag in great shape.

There are two small areas that are cosmetic and do not affect playability. I took pics of these areas, however, they are small so you have to concentrate.

One is a small crack in the finish that emanates from one of the spider screws.

The other is where I would slide a pick under the spider. I did not start this practice, it was there when I got it, so I decided since there was nothing I could do about it, I'll keep my pick there, too. Very small area.

Other than that, no issues. Has some GHS long scale rounds on there now. Probably need some 32 inchers if you wanna change strings.

Ask questions, I'll take more pics for you. I will double box this in the gig bag for shipping, won't be heavy but might be bulky!

Asking $330 shipped in lower 48.
Thanks!

Not that I'm the best at describing "teh tonez", but...

Well, I am not set up to record it, maybe with my iPhone?
It is definitely louder than a hollow body or electric unplugged. It has even more volume with a pick!
Pretty midrangy, highs depend on strings I think, and the lows are there but depend more on the harmonics to get them.
The body isn't huge, so the only way to really get the lows is to get an Earthwood. This isn't an Earthwood, but its' main strength is volume, IMO. Sounds nice and woody and still loud when you mute at the bridge with your hand and pick the strings, palm muting, if you will.

Truth be know, I didn't spend alot of time plugged in. I got it because it's supposed to be the loudest acoustic around, and it didn't disappoint.

I was -this- close to pulling the trigger on an off-brand resonator bass on ebay a couple of months ago. Have you jammed with an acoustic guitarist with this bass? The idea of an acoustic bass that won't be drowned out by a single guitar is appealing... Also, how's the action on these?

That's the thing. Since I've had this, about 2 years, I haven't jammed acoustic. When I needed it, I didn't have it and now that I have it, well...

I can't see it getting drowned out by one guitar. Maybe three and a banjo and a fiddle, maybe, but even then you have a chance with a pick. It will be louder to the people you play with because the resonator goes away from you, you only get so much volume sitting behind, above it.

The action is a little on the medium side. I thought about replacing the pieces of wood that sit in for the bridge, just never did. I don't really mind the action, and I think higher action helps with tone, especially on acoustic instruments.
