RELIST - FS: Modded 5 String SX Jazz Bass - Essex - Black/Maple

RELIST

$315 SHIPPED TO LOWER 48 STATES ONLY. ANYWHERE ELSE, I WILL NEED TO GET A SHIPPING QUOTE.

I have a very nice 5 string SX Jazz bass. The bass is black with a maple fret board. The overall condition I would say great. There are some very minor finish flaws that was done in the factory I believe. It was like this when I got it and it was purchased new (I don't even think I have had this bass for a full month yet). You really have to hold it in certain light angles to see what I'm talkin' about. It's like some little specs in a couple areas. If I didn't mention it, you probably wouldn't even notice it. The bass has had a lot of modifications done to it.

First, the vintage tint on the neck was stripped with citristrip.

Next, the frets were leveled, recrowned, and polished...which cost $105.00 to have done. Also had a new SX replacement nut installed because the original got soft from the citristrip.

Also, it got copper shielding and a vintage wiring kit from basspartsresource. Cloth wire, CTS 250k solid shaft switch pots, Switchcraft 1/4" jack, and .047mfd Orange Drop tone capacitor. Also, vintage style jazz bass knobs.

Then, the bass was setup and nut slots were filed. I did raise the bridge saddles up a bit when I received the bass because the action was a little too low for my playin' style.

Last, I ordered a black SX pickguard for the bass.

This is a sweet bass. I really hate to get rid of it. The flame in the neck is just amazing. I'm only selling because I'm goin' back to drums and really don't need a 5 string bass.

Price is $315 shipped to lower 48 states only.

Here's a post from stingray69 with some sound clips.

Thought I'd post some quick clips to give people a ballpark idea of some tones they can pull from this jazz bass. Might not be everyone's cup-o-tea though. Here's my SJB-57 with the exact same mods performed. I made a couple of sound clips over the weekend, but never intended to post them on TB.

Here's a Jamiroquai clip I did with the stock pickups, slightly bumped low-mids on my bass head & a fair amount of software compression. I came in a few bars before the actual bassline in the song, so what you hear first is entirely the SX bass. http://www.zshare.net/audio/646131418bb3cb91/

Others with cheesy drum machine & way different EQ at the bass head:

Steve

No trades because I'm needing new wrap for my drum shells and some other hardware. I would rather just have the cash so I can buy what I need.

Thanks,
Steve

Free bumps. I hope we both can get out of our SX holes. Nothing like throwing money away....

After thinkin' about it. The lowest I will go on this bass is $315 shipped. After shipping/paypal fees, I will only be clearing $280-$285. That's $100 loss I will be taking.

If you are local, $285 gets it. That's what I'm gonna relist it on craigslist for.

Thanks,
Steve
