~~~~~~FS/FT LADO STUDIO 605 5 STRING~~~~~~
Sign in to disble this ad
New offer = New thread. Time for the pricing game. I've tried this before and it worked pretty well. Starting today, I will be dropping the price on each of these basses $20 about every week. You can wait until it hits your ideal price and risk someone else taking it before it gets there, or you can just buy it now!!!
And I'm accepting trades on these for a bass(es) that are easier to sell. Again, if I take a trade on these, it will be for the purpose of flipping it, not keeping it.
These are really great basses. I guess they kinda have a limited appeal. They have the exotic woods, top notch guts, and pro construction just like other boutiques, but they don't have some of these outrageous body shapes and fits of other exotics. They're 'traditional boutiques'!!!
The first one is the 6 string. This is an amazing 1995 (so I was told) Lado Studio 606 Custom from the great Joe Kovacic.
Specs:
- Ser # CDN-STUDIO-606W-229
- 34" scale 5-piece NT (Flamed Maple/Purpleheart/Wenge/PH/Fl Mple) neck.
- Purpleheart stringers btn neck and body wings
- Flamed Walnut top over Flamed Maple core w/ Purpleheart back
- Black hardware w/ 16-16.5mm spacing at bridge
- 3 1/4" at 24th fret, 2 3/8" at the graphite nut
- Gaboon Ebony board w/ great frets
- Bartolini humbuckers w/ Bart TCT 3-band preamp (and extra 'black box')
- HSC with beat up tolex (no cracks or structural breaks)
- Bathroom scale weight is 11-12lbs. (This thing is ALL heavy hardwoods!!)
The condition is great. It has a dimple in the headstock above the 'L'. There is thumb wear between the pickups and wear around the master vol knob. The rest of the bass is pretty darn good, but the oil finish is a bit dirty.
This is a classy, VERY well constructed bass with a very comfortable flat neck and great tone.
My price is $1200 $1175 $1155 $1135 $1115 SOLD plus shipping anywhere.
The second is the Studio 5 string.
Specs:
- Ser # CDN-STUDIO-605-2132
- 34" scale 5-piece NT Flamed Maple & Purpleheart neck.
- Purpleheart and Flamed Maple stringers btn neck and body wings
- A beautiful rich purpley-red Purpleheart top over Flamed Maple core w/ a gorgeously grained Mahogany/Sapele back. The pics don’t do it justice!
- Gold hardware w/ 17mm spacing at bridge
- High-gloss thick clear coat.
- 3" at 24th fret, 2" at the nut
- Gaboon Ebony board
- Bartolini humbuckers w/ Bart TCT 3-band preamp (and extra 'black box')
- Bathroom scale weight is 10-11lbs. (This thing is ALL heavy hardwoods too!!!)
The condition is great. It has a slight scuff in the clear coat on the bottom edge of the lower horn. There is also a much less significant scuff on the lower edge by the jack. Lastly, there are 3 Small dimples- one on top by armrest, one on the edge just below knobs, and the other on the top edge of the upper horn. It had a pro fret leveling and crowning about a month ago. She's ready to rock!
This is a beautifully built and amazing sounding example of Joe’s work.
My price is $1000 $975 $955 $935 $915 $895 $875 = FINAL PRICE CUT plus shipping anywhere.
It's a terrible thing that Joe's instruments aren't more well-known. They are top notch in tone, construction, and feel. They are some of the most versatile basses I've ever played. They can do it all from hard rock, to slap 'n pop, to smooth mellow, & warm. They are a bit brighter and punchier than most Bartolini equipped basses, probably because of the woods used. Flamed Maple, Purpleheart, and Walnut are very dense woods, and stunningly beautiful to boot!
Thanks
Dan
I had some interest in the 5 string, but it didn't pan out, so:
3rd price drop: $1115 on the 6 and $915 on the 5.
Just bumpin this up.
I owned a Lado Canadian legend 5 and these are fantastic basses .
What people don't realize is Joe is one of the first custom bass builders and has been around for over 30 years .
I know guys that are still playing some of his early basses
and would never sell them .
Every bit as good as an F bass dingwall Sadowsky or any other High end bass out there .
cheers B.
Any other trades out there?
Here's my wish list:
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=601557
BUT....run ANYTHING by me.
I have a lot of other mainstream production basses that I wouldn't mind owning (that I don't have on the list). Here's some examples:
- Fender Steve Harris P
- Peavey G 4 or 5 in holoflake
- Peavey B Quad (all original- piezos must work!)
- Kramer Duke (or other aluminum Kramers)
- any Yamaha Attitudes
- Zon
This just popped up on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Lado-Studio-606-...item3359e0a10a
I just sold my 6 string for $1115! This guy is asking $1800. His most likely won't sell for that much, but that should at least give you an idea of what a great price I'm asking for my 5 string.
Some recent interest and shipping quotes, but no one followed through. SO....another price drop. Enjoy.
I now have a job again, so I am not nearly as desperate to sell this bass. However, I still rarely play it, so I would much prefer it go to someone that will. This will be the final price drop: $875 + S&H worldwide. If it doesn't sell at this price, I'll keep it FOREVER.
I am interested in the Lado. How does the sound compared to an F Bass, Ken Lawrence or Alleva-Copollo? Thanks.
BUMP
That beautiful Lado 6 string is still on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=220581681732
He's asking $1400 which is a fair price considering the woods, quality, tone, and feel. I think that my price is very fair compared to this.
