Had to repost this as a TBer indicated in the original thread that he wanted it. We ended up not striking a deal, but I did not want those posts to effect the thread negatively. No biggie and I wish that TBer all the best in finding his bass at his price. Now onto the show....
Early - mid 80's MIJ P ("E" serial number). This is considered by most as the "golden age" of Made In Japan Fender instruments. Most say they rivaled or even bested their MIA counterparts. A great player with great tone too! She's light. I'm guessing just over 8 lbs, but I can weigh her tomorrow to be sure (but my shoulder is almost always pretty accurate).
Nice medium low to low action. Original pickup and pots. Pickup has factory brass grounding plate. Nice fat, warm P tone with a sweet top sizzle that's not too clanky but not too dark either. Fantastic tone.
Bridge was upgraded to a true MIA Fender vintage grooved style on at some point and the tuners were upgraded to real Schallers too! The bridge saddles has some surface rust on them, but it's only cosmetic.
Yes she has some dings and chips here and there. She's a player and has some wear, but it's not too severe. If you are looking for a museum piece, this is not for you.
If you are looking for a great P, that's light with fantastic tone, then this IS the bass for you!
As for the price, I'll keep it on the lower side of what most 80's era MIJ P's sell for here. $475 (and we split shipping) and she's yours. No trades please!
