Rob Allen Mouse 30 Lined Fretless

It's back. It killed at the gig, but I'm going to go a different direction and am going to let this beautiful bass go. Walnut top and just a bit of Birdseye in the neck. Beautiful bass to look at and play. Nails the upright thing better than an EUB. Comes with Protec Gig Bag.

$1,650 Shipped - US only.
Prefer cash but would trade for the right 34" scale 5 string.

Unfortunately I can't. My stuff for doing that is in limbo for a while. It sounds a lot like any Mouse clip you might find. It's pretty amazing actually.

A tormented bump for a beautiful instrument that I must resist. Steve, I know you understand.

It's probably these old eyes playing tricks, but on the picture of the back of the headstock, right after the "MOUSE 30" it looks likes the number 2 is embossed in the wood. I can't imagine Rob marketing a "2nd"!!

Tell me it a piece of lint or something.

Didn't notice. I'll look and see. Never heard of a 2nd from him either.

Well, there is a 2 there. Don't know why. I can't find anything wrong.

I guess one could ask Rob if they have a record of it if it's a big deal.

I don't know about this bass, but Rob has had at least one "second." In the instrument that I know of it was due to a knot in the body. No affect on sound or playability - just visual and he normally wouldn't use it but the customer insisted.

Rob doesn't let anything out of his shop that doesn't play/sound killer. So if it is a second, it's gotta be something cosmetic. And knowing how meticulous Rob is, it probably won't be noticed by 95% of people...

I may do that. However, if that is holding up the sale I'll just keep it. I paid $1,750 a month ago. I'm not going to take any more of a hit right now. If I only play it a handful of times a gig, so be it.

Here's what Rob had to say:

"it is a factory 2nd hence the "2". There have not been many of these, and it was most likely due to the mineral streak in the neck (the dark spot) and or some other minor blem in the wood somewhere. The 2nds have never been due to any structural or quality problem, only minor cosmetic blems, so buy with confidence"

Thanks, Frank.

Bump for a great bass that I played at the Mid GA GTGG. You will not be disappointed. If there is a cosmetic flaw I couldn't see it
If the timing were better it would be headed back to GA.

Thanks for the bump and kind words. Doesn't seem to be much love for the Mouse these days - at least not $1,650 worth of love. I'll just play it until it sells or I decide exactly what 5 string I want and become desperate.

No Lakland love right now, either.

Need to figure out the best 34" scale fretted 5 string for church and contemporary jazz.

Steve, If I had the money this bass would be mine. Hell, I considered selling my goto basses to get this, but I realized I can't let go of my babies.
