Roscoe 3006 Basses X 2 FT/FS

NOW FOR SALE

FRETTED SOLD! Fretless still available.

$2300 USD for each one. OBO.

I've got two Roscoe basses that I keep changing my mind about.

Sometimes I love the Roscoe tone but more often than not I find myself digging the single coil J bass tone. Yes, I've posted these before.

Both are Spanish Cedar bodies with beautiful tops. The fretless is redwood with matching head stock and the fretted is an amazing maple. The fretted neck is Cocobolo. Both have Bart pre and pups. The black and gold hardware is an upgrade. The set up on both basses is quite low. Lower than my Sadowsky for sure. It's interesting that while they have the same pups and pre I like the fretless bart sound quite a lot. But the fretted not so much.

There are no major issues with either bass but a couple of cosmetic things with the fretted to mention. I'd say they are both in very good condition. There is a hole in the bass where someone repositioned the strap button long before the bass came to me. Also there is a mark on the neck above one of the neck bolts that has applied pressure to the neck and created a small crack on the fingerboard at the B string high on the fret board. It does not affect playability. The bass came to me with this and was not disclosed at the time of the original sale. I didn't even notice it until I got around to my first string change. I've since put a washer under the neck bolt to be sure that no pressure is applied to the area.

I'm interested in a number of trade options. Sadowsky and F bass and other J bass inspired tones would be top of the list although not so keen on the look of the new F bass vintage model but I'm sure they sound great. I am interested in 6 strings and 5 strings for sure. 24 frets would be great although I realize that would limit the options if I stuck to that. 4 strings are possible but I'm really a low B guy. Then again I'm playing double bass most of the times these days so a 4 string trade would not be out of the question. Maybe someone wants to trade a nice Fodera for both of these babies although I'd still be short on my end at that point.

So let me know if you are interested in a trade.

Thanks for reading.

WOW,

but hey, have you thought about maybe a set of nordstrand fatstacks or big singles? pretty sure they fit that bart pickup size. might give your roscoes a nice jbass like edge.

Yes I have thought about that and still something I'm considering for the fretted. Another TBr kindly sent me a pull push pot that could be wired into to switch the Barts to single coil but it's beyond me for wiring. I'f I could get that J bass tone I'd probably keep them.

fatstacks

Hi Steve,
I found this clip of a well known colombian bass player, and he uses an LG6 with fatstacks installed. and I think its does a good job in getting that jazz bass vibe.
check it out. if you want to hear a bit of the slap sound forward to the 3:30 mark.
good luck man

Nice find. Of love playing Latin/Afro Cuban and I know you do a lot of that. Quite a different construction from mine. I think he said koa body and cocobolo top as well as the maple neck. Looks like the bart pre. I should look into the pups.

Bump. Not a lot of love for the Roscoes.

How about an outright sale?

$2300 USD for each one. OBO. Each would come with an unopened set of DR Black Beauties as well as the ones on the bass.

If you only lived closer to me, I'd wire it up for you in 20 minutes. I keep my Roscoe SKB5 in single coil mode, always. It does have a JB vibe to it this way. It will more so, with your pickup config. I have the slants and they're closer together than yours. Good luck Steve!
