Sadowsky NYC 24 position in Excellent Condition
$3200+SHIPPING, CASH SALE ONLY / NO TRADES

Ok Fellow TB'ers, this is a tough decision but a well thought out decision none the less.

Just picked this Beauty up from Rwider and find myself loving it in every way, yet veering back toward my primary instrument (which has been a blessing and a curse for 15 yrs!!!)

Anyway, it is a sweeet instrument with an absolutely amazing "cut through the mix" Sadowsky growl!!! IT IS A VERY SIMPLE SCENARIO; I could never justify keeping a gorgeous instrument that was not being used.

VERY IMPORTANT FYI BUMP!!!;

The most commonly asked question regarding this bass is...;

"Does the Mohagony body make it less bright, or TOO warm???"

As moses is my witness, I plug this bass in and it is as snarly as any ash or maple body J Bass that i have played. Sorry folks, the Mohagony did not tame this one.

A further note, I spoke with Kevin at Sadowsky who told me before I purchaed this bass that the Mohagony would not be a measurable factor in this basses sound. He was emphatically clear that the tone would primarily come from the fingerboard... Period

He was right...

That kind of leaves me curious. That snarl is part of the Sadowsky Modern sound, but at the same time I would think of all the Modern wood/fingerboard combinations, that one would have the least amount. Compared to a maple J probably, but A/B to an ash/maple Modern, not so much. In any case, that is an amazing wood combination that someone like me would be happy to own.

Bump

I've owned a few NYC Sadowskys and this one was a "keeper in my eyes". Beautiful, plays fantastic, great modern tone and 24 fret. Don't hesitate on this one...........

For Sure Jerry! I think the preamp and pickups on these modern basses would make a piece of plywood sound good! lol!!!

In all seriousness, when it is in passive mode, I hear a bit more "warmth" to the instrument than when in active mode.

It only makes this bass super versatile.

going,....going,.........

Not that far from the truth there!
I had a ash/maple Metro Modern, that killed. Different strokes, but I never quite cared for it passive. Still regretting letting that one go.

I had similar conversation with Kevin yesterday, which confirmed my feeling that the fingerboard wood is more important than the body.

That being said, with this Brazilian board, don't you find this to be more open, sweet, and warm than ash, ebony, or morado?

I'm contemplating a Sadwosky 24-5 with a Brazilian board, so I'm curious. This one is tempting . . .
