NOTE: BASS IS SOLD -- THANK YOU, DREWMI, 8/26/2010 I have attempted to edit this thread title to reflect that this bass was built in 1992 (see Robert's clarification below) -- the original owner told me it was from the "late 1980s" .... sorry about the incorrect build date that appears in the title!
THIS REALLY HURTS ME!!!!! I am offering my beautiful 1992 Sadowsky NYC 24-fret 5-string for sale to offset some serious out-of-pocket medical expenses and a little bit of recent GAS (gear acquisition syndrome). This is a two-owner bass (the original owner was more of a collector than a player and he had more than a half-dozen NYC Sadowskys plus a few other high-end basses).
The finish on this bass, which has a gorgeous quilted maple top, finished in caramel burst. Both the top and back of this bass are stunning .... BUT THE SOUND IS EVEN MORE STUNNING!!! Before you ask -- yes, the clear mini-pickguard is standard on Sadowsky basses of that era. In fact, other than the strings, and a brand-new super long-life 9v battery, everything on this bass is original! I will also throw-in a set of $48 DR Nickels that I was about to put on this bass.
As you can see from one of the photos, there is one "ding" on the back edge near the control cavity cover. Other than that, there are some VERY light scratches on the surface dead-center on the back of the bass, which you may be able to see in one of my photos.
This bass comes complete with a Sadowsky hardshell case (not the current hybrid case/gig bag) and a $50 Sadowsky strap -- both in very good to mint condition. I will sacrifice this bass, with case, Sadowsky strap and spare DR Low Rider Nickel 5-string set for $2,800 shipped to the lower 48 states -- $2,725 without the strap and spare set of strings (PayPal fees included) -- please add $35 for insurance, if you want it insured.
I'm going to post pic's in the next three or four posts --
