I took this bass in trade recently, NYC Sadowsky 5, Koa/Braz RW, Soapbar J position, and realized I miss having a VJJ. Great playing and sounding bass.
- Up for sale is this beautiful NYC Sadowsky 5-string
- Natural AAAA Koa on Mahogany
- Brazilian Rosewood board, 12" radius
- 1 7/8" Nut Width, 19mm bridge spacing
- Black hardware
- 9.3 lbs
- Sadowsky Soapbars in J Locations
- Sadowsky 2-band preamp with VTC
- Original listing from Sadowsky here: 4612
No functional issues - plays like... a Sadowsky , low action, no significant fretwear, neck true, balances perfectly. 2 small surface dings on body edge near input jack and one more on upper edge which is visible only with very close inspection. Protective stickers still in place on the back and over the control plate.
This bass sounds even better than it looks. Huge B-string, no honkiness in the mids, and when you solo the neck pickup you'd swear you were playing a P-bass. Only reason I'm selling is my growing realization of my distinct preference for a narrower nut width than 1 7/8".
$3100 Shipped CONUS
Trade: Sadowsky NYC VJJ 5 or a really nice MTD 535-24

I have owned 7 Sadowsky basses...this was by far my favorite. It is a KILLER bass. Plays like butter and the tone is awesome. Warm but still ballsy like a Sadowsky.

Again, I wish this was a 4. Then again, maybe being a 5 is keeping me out of harms way.
And I'm 20 minutes from Tahoe's Incline Village near Mt Rose.

If you're on the fence about this one, hop off and PM Bob. You will not be sorry.

Not saying that is a bad thing...just what it is. I've owned this bass and a couple of M5-24s. One ash/maple and the other alder/ebony. This one is one has much more going on in the low end. The gut wrenching lows on this bass are astonishing. And it does not have quite as much upper mid punch of the M5-24. All of that is to be expected considering the wood differences and pickup positioning. IMO, the best way to describe this one is "all the warmth and fatness of a humbucker equipped bass with all the snap and balls of a Sadowsky preamp" If that makes sense.
