Hey all,
I am continuing my quest to expand my tone palette. I have too many J basses (and too many Ash bodied/ Maple board basses but I love their sound)...sooo I will let this beauty speak for itself.
This is a 2000 Sadowsky NYC J4 with a AAAAA maple top on a Swamp Ash body with a maple neck/maple fretboard. This has a special ordered 1 5/8" neck. These necks are the older variety that many players prefer because of the slim profile. I am a dedicated 1.5" Jazz player, and I can play this neck all night long with no problem.
The bass is Vintage Amber, a color I was told Sadowsky does not do anymore.
This is a solid body bass... made before Sadowsky started to chamber bodies to keep weight down. Light weight resonant swamp ash is getting tougher to find every year....This one obviously was hand picked...
weighs in at 8 lbs 3 oz. on my shipping scale. The punch and clarity are spectacular.
Assembled lovingly by Norio Imai when he was working for Roger. It really doesn't get better folks.
There is a scuff on the headstock, and some swirling, but all in all the bass is in excellent shape. Frets are in remarkable shape. I used only Nickel strings with this bass, and I'm pretty sure the owner before me did as well. Does not have the VTC and frankly, does not need it. Have a look at the pics.
PS if you really need to have the VTC in this bass, I will take it to the shop for you (I'm local) and have it done on your dime, but honestly it doesn't need it.
Any Questions PM me...partial trades accepted Vintage Fenders and Sadowsky's, US LakLands, A Cream colored Thunderbird? What do you have? keep it to 4 strings please
Priced at 3000 shipped CONUS ... give the shop a call and ask them how much it would cost you to have a bass like this built today.

As always, international shipping will be a little higher, contact me via PM.
