Sadowsky RV5 Oly white - Canada, price drop

I am beyond sad to let this go. But, I just don't play it enough, and to be honest it's too good for me. Some of you may remember it, it's been on sale twice before, last time was... wow, 2006. I bought it from gruuv, and he got it from mikebass.

Sadowsky RV5 Olympic White

It's a beautiful bass, plays fantastic, and it's been literally collecting dust for the last two or three years. (To give you an idea, I haven't had a supporting membership here for years.) I just don't have time to play it anymore and it seems a waste to just keep it in my house for no other reason than it's nice to look at. It actually had dust on it when I took these pictures. So, that's a sign, right?

A bit of history: Roger himself re-trued and re-fretted this in NY, after mikebass wasn't perfectly happy with the fretboard. Funny story--I was working for Microsoft in 2007 and I took this in to Mike Lull to get it set up, and he said "this fretwork is great, I haven't seen it this good on a metro." So I told him why. Action can go very low, obviously.

I have gigged with it once, and it's stayed inside other than that.

Detailed condition: It has a four very minor dings on the bottom and top edge. They just press into the coating, not into the wood. I never see them unless I go out looking for them. There's a group of three or four thin scratches on the bottom near where you rest your right forearm while playing. I'm guessing someone with a watch might have scratched it while moving their right arm. The neck pickup seems to have a nick or two on its casing, but it obviously doesn't affect the tone. There is a little rough patch on the top of the headstock where I rubbed it against the ceiling as I was taking it off after practicing. Other than those marks, the bass is in mint condition. I would rate it a 9/10, it looks almost showroom clean and beautiful.

Here are some pics, I have a few other more detailed ones if anyone would like.

I live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, so unless there's someone in Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg (or Montana or ND?) willing to meet me halfway, I'll have to ship it.

Has the VTC option.

*** Price drop: *** I will ship ConUS or Canada, for $1875.

Thanks. I'm so sad to see her go. She's one of a kind.

*** Update *** Just read on Gruuv's old thread: this appears to have strap locks installed. I never got around to using them.

*** New pics: ***

According to the digital food scale, it's between 9.38 and 9.42 lbs. Pretty good for a Metro 5-string, and less than a pound off the usual 8.5 lbs of a NYC Sadowsky 5-string.

The serial # is M111, so that would put it at 2004, according to the website. Wow, 11th made.

Additional info from PM questions: Alder body, rosewood fingerboard. I'm pretty sure it has a satin finish on the neck (it's not sticky at all).

I would love to have this one back. If I had the cash........
I may have some clips of it someplace as well.....if I do I'll post them up.

Roger himself re-trued the fingerboard and re-fretted it.

This is so tempting...basically everything I want (I think) in a bass...and I'm in North Dakota.

Well, it was almost sold, but the deal just fell through, so it's still available.

MikeBass: I wondered if you would see this thread.

Session1969: Accufunk Thundergroove. They work well together.

Bump for a bass that, for me, is the absolute perfect Sadowsky. The right woods to slightly mellow out those insane electronics, and a classic look that fits in on any gig. All the best with the transaction...whoever lands this one will be very happy.

Thanks, Jerry. Now I really have to think about it :-)
I'm thinking I may like this better than the Roscoe I tried...maybe a little more below for me.

I went over the bass very carefully before packing it up for the previous potential buyer, and I found a few more scratches. I updated the description and gave it a price drop.

SteveC -- I would be happy to go for a drive and meet you half way.

I'm torn. I should really at least try my Rob Allen Mouse at ONE gig before I sell it. I have a wedding reception gig on Saturday where I plan to try it out.

Thing is, I'm not sure I bought it for the right reasons. I keep getting basses I "think" people want me to have - like a Rob Allen for a more "authentic" sound on standards - but the truth is, the people who ask me to play with them do/did so before I ever had a Rob Allen or any other "special" bass - fretted or fretless.

I think the truth is, I would get asked to play no matter what - unless it was a very special situation and even then I have access to an upright so...

Anyway, I'm starting to think a 34" scale, fretted, 5 string "jazz" type bass with an active/passive preamp would cover all my gigs - church, R&B/Soul, cover band, CCM, contemporary jazz and even more traditional jazz gigs.

Maybe I should just reopen my For Sale thread on the Rob Allen. WOuldn't be the first time I've sold a bass without gigging it I guess....

My thoughts, too. Alder, Rosewood, classic looks...

I really can't believe that someone hasn't snapped this bass up. It's a beauty for sure.

I just love the oly white Sadowskys. I have the 4-string version of this bass and it just smokes. Mine was built around the same time frame also.

Thanks Jerry. It really is gorgeous, and it plays great with Roger's fretwork.
