Sadowsky UV70MB 5 String
I picked this up about a week ago and I love it. It's an amazing bass and everything about it is flawless. But I'm coming to terms with what I'm really searching for in a "sound". The Sadowsky sounds incredible, but I just don't think it's what I'm needing right now.
I am asking for $1,800 shipped or any of the following trades:
Modulus Quantum 5 w/ Chechen board
Lakland 4-94/55-94 w/ Ebony board
Ken Smith w/ Soapbars
Warwick Dolphin SN or NT
Thanks guys,
Andy

I've considered doing the same (selling my new Sadowsky) because I got so attached to my Lakland over the past year that selling it is killing me. In some ways, I could more easily sell the Sadowsky, which has less sentimental value.
Of course, what I'm really working on is a way to hold onto BOTH of them.
Love the bass, BTW. Drop some Sadowsky single coils in there and a VTC and you would have the ULTIMATE Geddy.

However, the site that hosted that clip is down now. Let me do some checking around, and see if I can come up with a copy. As far as making new clips, I don't have any way to record them right now.

It is serial number M949 and can be found on the Sadowsky website.

Working on it.
But speaking as someone who has both heard and played Pat's Metro, I do think that you may really like the sound (especially since a certain somebody's Smith looks like it's a done deal ).

I was way inpressed with Pat's Modern 5.
real smooth without sounding too "active" like some basses suffer from.
And looks like the Smith deal isn't gonna happen.

In that case, then your Smith or Pat's Metro would actually be two very interesting choices that might fit this bill. Of course, my 25th Anniversary 24F 5 might float his boat, too, but it ain't for sale. |

I look at TomBowlus, Mikebass, Cheezewhiz,Todd 4ta, and some others as bass heroes because you guys always seem to have a clear mind about everything on here and you make this place feel like a family.
So no pressure or anything, I just wanted you all to know how much I respect your opinions.
THANKS!

So many choices... this is killing me!
Here's what "bill" I need to fit.
I'm looking for a bass to play your standard rock (aka anything!), but I often will play reggae & blues where I REALLY want that low end to power through the mix. Not something that will boom everyone out of the room, but something they can really feelwith clarity. And as I walk up the board I want the sound to be clear on top, with a tone that isn't bright and "boutiquey", but it's there. I hope this helps a little bit.
I'm still open for any advice you guys have...
And that damn Smith is looking sooooo good right now! | I'll chime in only as this: www.myspace.com/chrystalgroove
You can judge for yourself. It's the Smith on both tracks.
The other side to this is Pat's Modern 5 Metro.
If/when they get the clips up of it, I think you'll be shocked on how good it sounds.
A point of reference is this, we determined that the tone of the Smith falls between a Sadowsky Modern and the Sadowsky Vintage/Standard.

Well, having played both Mike's Smith, and my Metro, I can say EITHER would fit the bill! It would really be a matter of personal preference. But..say the word and I'll swap ya the M5/24. I'd really like a UV! (and just as you said..no pressure...if Mike ends up with the bass, that'd be fine. He's a monster player that would bring out the best in it!)
