Sage Custom 5 with Aero pickups and Bart pre

This one's a real beauty:

The body is bookmatched mahogany with a beeswing bubinga top. Graphite-reinforced neck has flame maple sides, a mineral-streaked maple center, and black accent lines. Fingerboard is African blackwood with Ryan's signature silver-ring, wood-core fret markers.

Bridge pickup is an Aero humbucker and neck is an Aero single-coil. Preamp is Bartonlini. Controls are volume, PU blend, mid, and stacked treble/bass. Knobs are wooden to match the top.

35" scale, 24 frets, 19 mm string spacing (which can be tweaked on the bridge saddles), about 1.9" nut width, D neck profile, about 9.2 lbs on the bathroom scale, black Hipshot hardware, dual-action truss rod.

Condition is 9/10. I studied every inch of it in good light and could only find a few things to note, all of which are detailed in pictures found here: https://picasaweb.google.com/1009151...eat=directlink

In that album, you'll also find more shots of the rest of the bass, including some professional photos from the Sage site.

$1800 shipped and insured CONUS.

Thanks, Laklandlover!

BTW, for those interested, I do recommend a look at the pro pics in the linked album. They do a better job (go figure) of capturing the color and depth of the finish.

Good question. I'll record a few samples and post them here, probably over the weekend.

Samples are up! https://soundcloud.com/thegreatmatts...e-bass-samples

For recording, the signal chain was...
1. Sage bass wearing Spector nickel rounds (E and B taperwound). All onboard EQ was set flat. You'll see there are tracks with the bridge PU soloed, tracks with the neck PU soloed, and tracks with the blend centered.
2. Rack preamp, either...
A. Trace Elliot V-Type tube pre, with the knobs where TE calls it "flat"
B. Yamaha PB-1 solid-state pre, with the knobs where Yammy calls it "flat"
3. Peavey PV6 mixer/USB interface. Unfortunately, it's noisy, especially around 1.5kHz. It's probably just trying to hide all my clams.
4. PC recorder, which I clipped a couple times in there. Sorry 'bout that.

Gorgeous. I had a beautiful Sage bass for a while but I wasn't nearly good enough to be able to play it effectively.

There have been some questions about trades. Try me--I'm always happy to be offered basses! Chances for a deal are best if it's a slim-necked four-string.

I am curious about FGN's recent output, but the 5-string J spot in my lineup is already filled, sorry to say. Thanks for the offer!
