For Sale: 1966 Fender Jazz, Lake Placid Blue, Matching Headstock, $4000

Hey everyone,

Another one from the Guitar Garage - my old 66 Jazz Bass - finally put together with a proper finish on the body.

This bass came to me MANY years ago with the body finish stripped, but everything else pretty much original - including the beautifully aged LPB headstock !!

I finally got around to doing a proper MATCHING LPB finish on the body to put this instrument together in all its glory.

As usual, I've written a more detailed blog post on it, which can be read HERE.

The bass plays great - sounds great and most important - LOOKS AWESOME !!

The weight is typical for a 60's Jazz at just a little over 9 lbs.

Only a few non-original parts:
- body finish is new, obviously
- the knob for the neck volume control
- tone pot replaced with 67 tone pot (original included)
- chrome pickup shield/rest may not be original
- original wiring is spliced due to someone else's wire snipping and one ground wire replaced

My price is US $4000 - plus shipping to wherever you might be.

The bass comes in its original hardcase as well - which is in very good condition - solid but some edge tears in tolex, clean orange interior, no moldiness!

Contact me - just wanted to put this out there for Talk Bass members first - but I'll be putting it on Ebay by the end of the week if its doesn't move here.

References are available - plus a bunch of people on here know me and the work I do and instruments I sell.

cheers!!

Krishna

Beautiful bass. Are you sure it's not a 67, though? The neck dates December 66, and one of the pickups dates January 67 according to your blog. Good luck with the sale.

Yeah - I'm sure it actually shipped in 1967 - as I said in the blog post, I'm referring to it as a 66 because of the neck date and the lollipop tuners, etc.

probably a January 1967
