Local Only

Ok, I was hoping to get some money for Black Friday and/or after Christmas sales. I've come to realize I'm more of a hobbyist and I can part with a few things. One of those things is my back up bass. My Conklin GT-4. This is the older model, and it has definitely been played. Purpleheart oxidizes and goes from fuchsia to darker and darker purple-ish brown. This one has definitely gone darker. I can part with it because I have grown as a player and know my preferences better. I like thick necks and shorter upper horns. So this does not really serve as a good "backup" to my main bass because I have to re-adjust my playing when I switch.

The basics:

4 String
Ash body
FLAME maple top(new ones are mostly quilt)
Wenge/purpleheart neck with purpleheart fretboard
2 band treb/bass with pan and volume on a 4 knob config
Locking jack

The Good:

The neck is the 8th wonder of the world. Set it how you like it, and it is gonna stay that way. Even in the Georgia weather its been rock solid. Purpleheart and Wenge makes very stable necks. The bass neck is thin and very "slapper" friendly, my buddy that plays a ton of Wooten and Claypool stuff loves this bass neck. It has that raw feel to it because its not done in gloss. The flame wood on the facing of this one has a weird feathering to it on the upper part of the body, you will see it in the pics below, I personally like it. Like is subjective though.

I have the case made by Conklin for these kind of basses. They cost 100 bucks extra, but I'll include it with the bass. Its form fit and made specifically for these basses, so I can't really use it with anything else I have. Its semi-soft case, being foam and light ply with a nylon cover.

The Bad:

Its got some playing wear on the frets, but nothing crazy, its a played bass. The strings are a bit dead(I like old strings), they're a set of Warwick steel roundwounds. There's some "gunk" on the back of the headstock that you can see if you shine light on the back from an old sticker that was on it before I had the bass. I don't feel the gunk, but if you're looking you can see its there.

The most bad thing... Local pickup only for now.

Here's some pics, click them for larger versions.
