For Sale ONLY: US Standard Jazz V: I have dropped this to 700$ Shipped!
This is a Fender 5 string American Standard Jazz bass. The bass is in a burgundy color with original everything except one tuner replaced due to wear. It was born in 1998. The bass is in great condition especially for its age. I will include a new basic gig bag with this bass. The bass will be shipped via UPS insured and I will over pack it to withstand a Rick Flair beat down!
I will give a very detailed description of the bass so there is no confusion. There are some minor issues with it but none of them affect playability.
The neck is straight, and the action is good. The buyer may wish to lower the action a hair but it is right where I like it. The truss rod works fine and turns without much force. The frets are not worn down. All electronics work perfectly. Everything is original except for the tuner on the B string which I replaced cause the old one wasn’t smooth. This is a bass that has been played, not one that has sat in a case for 12 years. So its appearance is that of a bass that has been very well taken care of but played as well. The bass currently has a set of roundwound nickels that still have quite a bit of life left in them. I don’t know the weight of the bass but it seems to be in the medium range. Not as heavy as my ATK but heavier than my G&L L2000.
Minor issues:
1) There is a ding at the bottom edge of the bass near the jack. It is seen in the pictures. It was there when I bought it in 98 and I filled it with wood putty long ago and covered it with a black ink. It is invisible from far away but will be seen with a close inspection of the instrument. This dent measures 5/8 inch by 1/4 inch (think a half thumbnail) and the wood putty can be removed if the buyer wishes to get it professionally repaired. It is more pronounced in the pictures than normal.
2) The hex nuts and screws on the bridge saddles have some oxidation which can be replaced at minimal cost or left alone since they don't affect performance.
3) There is also a couple of very minor dents in the neck as can be seen in the pictures, but nothing major.
4) Also some minor smudges on the back of the bass but nothing that will even show in pictures. None of these effect sound/performance and only will be seen with a very close inspection of the instrument.
I have been the owner of this bass for the past 12+ years and am selling it because it doesn't get played nearly as much as my 4 strings and I could use the cash. This is a quality instrument that any bass player will enjoy. It sounds awesome…but you probably know what an American Jazz sounds like anyway….I think the price is very fair as I have seen the same bass go for more than this on TB. I will knock 25$ off of the price for a local pickup in Charleston, SC.
