Sale/Trade Feeler: 1982 Fender Bullet Bass Deluxe

Sign in to disble this ad
This really is just a feeler....I'm torn between seeing what I could replace this with, or keeping it around as a modding platform. I'll just pull the ad if there's no interest, but no harm in checking it out first...

198(2?) Bullet Deluxe (has an E0 serial number), 34" scale, USA made.

Non-original: finish (has been stripped), bridge and knobs. I believe everything else is original, though I haven't examined the pots. It plays great, and sounds like an awesome cross between a vintage P bass and a Mustang (same pickup as the Mustang). The body has had a shallow rectangular route for the replacement bridge.

Definitely a player's bass, not a collector's. But it's a cool player, and if you've never played one of these necks, you owe it to yourself.

Anyway, I think I might try a DS or a fat mudbucker in this for fun, and refinish it some cool color.....but I would also consider selling it for $425 shipped, or maybe trading for a hollowbody of some kind (or possibly other stuff). Hit me up, and if there's no interest, then I guess I have a project.

Hmm.....my photobucket isn't working....pics coming soon, hopefully..

Took it apart and it looks like it was originally cream/off-white. Bump!

Had a few nice trade inquiries, so I'll clarify my interests a little bit here:

Vintage MIJ stuff (Squier, Ibanez, Yamaha, etc.)
Hollowbody basses
Nice set of passive P/J pickups
?

(don't have much need for pedals or amps)

Yeah, you know honestly, that's where the real value of this bass lies. I've played lots of vintage Fenders, and the necks on these are (for me personally) as good as it gets. I have a Franken-P that I gig regularly that's built from a '72 body and an '83 Bullet neck.

Also by request, here's the truss rod. Definitely in good working order and not maxed out.

Wow, that finish is so creamy looking lol
I don't know what it is but something about it is amazing. Somebody needs to buy this bass to save the finish! Good luck with the sale!

Thanks Chris! I think I'll give this a few more days, and then get the body refinished and move ahead with my plans if it's still around...

Out of curiosity what kind of finish are you planning?

Probably going to go with a "vintage" Fender custom color: Sonic Blue, Surf Green, etc. Still thinking....

I've decided to drop this price only once before pulling the ad and keeping it as a project. So I'll make this $375 shipped, with no further drops. Cheers!

I dearly wish I could afford this, but besides cost reasons, Bullet basses are more of a GAS than an actual purchase. Really neat that you have one, though!

Not really sure what you mean, but thanks - I think.
