Well, the search for my sound has, for now come to an end and it's time to let go of this gem. It's a Yamaha BB605, natural finish (alder body). Gold hardware, five string, active pickups (blend, vol, bass, treble, mid shape, mid cut switch). This bass is abosolutely phenominal for the money, but the active pickups just don't fit into the sound I'm going for. I picked up a Yamaha BB415 with passive pups that is exactly what I wanted, so this one's gotta go. I installed dunlop straplocks which are also included in the sale. $350 gets you an incredible bass shipped right to your door. I can provide additional pictures if needed. Thanks!

In fact one thing I really liked about it was the sheer variety of sounds I could coax out of it. I just happened to like the thump of the passive P pickup in my new BB415 a little better. I played it generally with most of the treble rolled off and little bit of a bump on the bass. There are tunes on the myspace link (country music) if you want to hear it just a little bit in action.

It's my only bass these days. I did replace the electronics with all Bartolini, but what I love is the very playable neck and small, light body. I keep my eyes open for a 2nd one but rarely see them for sale. |
