Sandberg Custom 5 Mahog/Wenge (based on Bullet Special)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TRADED -- 2/2/2011

Re-listing 1/6/2011 -- Still available - I'll accept $1,350 $1,250 with a local pickup or less than a 2.5 hour drive (that covers all of NJ, and much of PA, Metro NYC and a good portion of Long Island, Western CT, all of DE, and most of MD plus all the way to Washington, DC)!

I purchased this bass from Kwesi about 3 months ago and although it has a killer tone and is super-versatile with the 3-band Glockenklang preamp, and 3-way pickup switching (series/parallel/single-coil), I need to sell it due to a couple of family financial crises. Here is the original listing by Kwesi (with a few added pieces of information from me) The second audio clip is of this bass, played by Kwesi:

BODY:: Mahogany
TOP & BACK:: Wenge
NECK:: Maple
FINGERBOARD:: Rosewood
PICKUPS:: Sandberg MM style pickups series/parallel/single switches on both - wenge pickup covers installed by Sandberg
PREAMP:: Glockenklang 3 band w/ active/passive push/pull on volume
SCALE:: 34 inch (I get closer to 35" from nut to bridge saddles); 24 frets.
STRING SPACING:: 18.5mm (adjustable from 17.5mm to 19mm)
WEIGHT:: less than 10lbs (between 9lb., 10oz. and 9lb., 14oz. on my digital postal scale)
SOUND/VIDEO CLIPS:: Clip 1 Clip 2

There's one "blemish on the top of the lower bout, where it looks as if someone was attempting to attach a strap button or straplok, but stopped before doing any real damage. Why anyone would want to attach a strap button on the lower bout is beyond my comprehension!

There are lots of photos in the link within Kwesi's original post (see link below), and I am a lousy photographer, but I have taken a bunch of photos, too, and a couple of them appear below --

Here's that link to the original listing that includes this bass with the sound/video clips, plus a nice Fender 5-string FMT Jazz that Kwesi was selling ...

The Last Two - Fender AmDlx FMT V & Sandberg Custom 5 Soundclips and lots of pics

Price lowered to $1,350 shipped for this bass -- $1,250 IF YOU ACT REALLY FAST AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF MY CURRENT FINANCIAL (GAS) NEED!!! Based on Sandberg's current price list, this bass would sell for more than $2,400 US, without the through-body bridge, pickup covers and 3-way pickup selector switching; I estimate that this bass would cost more than $2,750 by custom-order, if you could even get Sandberg to build you one like this. Comes with the original very sturdy Sandberg gig bag in mint condition.

and more pic's ...

Please excuse the so-so quality (I am a better bassist than I am a photographer). There is a great photo album in the linked thread from Kwesi; I bought this bass from him around Labor Day, 2010.

String spacing at the bridge ...

... is adjustable from about 17mm to more than 19mm from string-to-string. I currently have the strings adjusted to about 18.5mm spacing.

Bumping to the top -- this bass is still available, and will be shipped with a brand-new professional setup and fret dressing job!

I really need the cash (GAS got to me in a big way in the last 30-45 days) ... and I am virtually giving this bass away at $1,250 without shipping or no more than $1,350 shipped to the lower 48 states and Canada (price will be $1,250 PLUS MY ACTUAL SHIPPING COSTS)! I have a friend who owns a music store, and he says that he will assist me with international shipping, so bring on the offers!!!

By the way, I have the string spacing set at about 18.5mm at the bridge (as the initial post says, spacing is adjustable string-to-string from about 17.5mm to 19mm.

String scale measures closer to 35" from nut to bridge saddles.
