Schecter Diamond Series California Custom 5 (the J style bass)

Sign in to disble this ad
Here's the specs from the interweb (my details in parentheses):

• Construction: Bolt-on
• Body: Alder w/ Figured Maple (veneer)
• Neck: Maple
• Fingerboard: Rosewood
• Frets: 21 Jumbo
• Scale: 35 in.
• Inlays: Black Pearl Offset Dots
• Bridge: Hipshot 'A' w/ Thru Body Option (brass, 18mm spaced)
• Binding: None
• Tuners: Grover
• Hardware: Chrome
• Pickups: EMG 40P5 (both)
• Electronics: Master Vol/ Blend (Squier 3 band EQ with slap contour, 9v)
• Finishes: Black Cherry
• Dark Vintage Sunburst
NOT A US MADE INSTRUMENT... the model is the "California Custom" but is made in Korea, I think...

I got this from Basswave. It had just had the frets crowned and setup done by Jon Mouradian (sp?). There are minor dings and dents, but nothing very noticeable. The bass played and sounded really nice when I got it, but I decided to go for a few upgrades.
I added another P5 pickup in the bridge position (instead of the J) and upgraded the BTC preamp to a 3 band from a Squier Deluxe Active J 5. It gave a whole lot more to the bass as far as tone goes! I was trying to make it sound kind of like an older Modulus I had and loved (35" scale, double P config, 3 band). I think it did well to sound like that! But... I'm not really finding much use for it in my current project.

And as we all know here at Talkbass, unused gear is just GAS money in limbo... so I'm offering it up!

$350 shipped WITH CASE!!! US, Paypal only.

It's $30 less if I keep the case...

(I really hate my indoor shots, but the weather is awful here in Cleveland. Better pics once the weather calms down)

TRADES: Well, I'm looking for better gear, so a straight trade probably won't work in my favor... but if you want to trade DOWN and I can throw cash, I'll tell you what I'm looking for:

Older EBMM Stingray 5 (late 80s to 2000) with a nicely figured neck
Ray 35 (that would be closer to a straight trade)
Status Graphite WOOD NECKED 5 string bass
Reverend 5 string
Pretty much looking for a 5 string of some kind that interests me. PM if you think you have a candidate, I'll let you know!

Which pups and pre are in the schecter now? Do you have the stock? It looks stock on the pics.

They originally came stock as EMG 40P5-EMG 40J...
I traded the 40J for another 40P5, so I no longer have it.
So it has 40P5-40P5 now.

The pre was an EMG BTS (stock)... I sold that as well. The new preamp is one from a Squier Deluxe Active Jazz V. It's a 3 band with mid frequency, so it's a LOT better than the BTS.

What you see is what I got!

Seems like a really good deal especially considering the EMG's. Surprised it's still here.

I know! The parts on it are amazing, tone is fantastic, playability is top notch... just a rough market, I guess!

Trades are an option, as well. I'm about to do some studio work, so I need to swap out some gear...
Looking for:
Synth pedals
Fretless 5 or 6 string
Guitar of decent quality
NON-Jazz basses (I have 2 others that work)

Run things by me! Worst I'll do is say "No thanks, fellow TB'er, but I appreciate the time and effort you took in offering your goods to me and I wish you luck in future transactions."

Still waiting for some responses.

Bump for temporary trade GAS... SEEKING A KORG MICROSYNTH!!!
I'd trade the bass only for one, straight up.

Cash is still king, though.
