How's that for an attention grabber?
Hi Folks... For sale is my Mike Lull M4V bass.
Important up-front disclaimer: This is only being listed to fund a specific replacement. Should that bass sell before this one, I'll respectfully close this thread.
Cliff Notes: The bass is in excellent condition. Price is $1,500 firm, SF Bay Area local sale
greatly preferred, cash terms.
The Skinny:
Mike Lull M4V, s/n 1301
Mike Lull M4V Basses
Alder body
Indian rosewood fingerboard
Sherwood Green metallic finish w/ matching headstock*
Pearloid pick guard
Lindy Fralin single coil pickups, 60's positions
Bartolini NTBT preamp
Layout: Vol/Vol/PTC/Stacked Bass & Treble
Conservative weight estimate: 8.5 lbs
*The finish is hard to accurately capture in photos, although the shot above comes closest to my eyes. It is undoubtedly a bit lighter than Sherwood Green Fender and Lakland models I've seen.
I'm the original/only owner, and the bass has only been gigged once...it truly is in excellent condition. Included is an as-new Mike Lull-branded gig bag. Sonically, it totally captures the Lull vibe - vintage, but with some extra muscle. The Fralin s/c's and Bart pre are a perfect combo, and this bass certainly has the mojo you'd expect. Playability is...here I go again...to Lull standards. Action can be set as low as you'd like, and the weight and balance are terrific.
Full Terms: The price is firm, and reflects the amount I need to net on the sale. A forum search from this morning yielded a wide spectrum of pricing for these basses, from $1,300 to $1,900. Given the finish, condition, and subjective mojo of this bass, I'll happily defend the price as fair.
Again, local sale is strongly preferred. You can play it, through my rig or yours, and determine for yourself if a trade for 15 Benjamins is the right decision. I
will ship CONUS, but we'll have to talk first...you'll need to really know this is the right bass for you, and we'll have to come to terms that put $1,500 in my pocket. Finally, repeating myself from above, but I reserve the right to pull this listing if the bass I'm after sells.
Thanks for your time. I'll leave you with two more photos, and I'm happy to answer any questions....happy shopping!
