Skjold 5 String -Modified

Sign in to disble this ad
Price lowered because it has been modified and the bass is no longer in original condition. But it is still a Skjold.
Still sounds and plays excellent.
SOLD

Black Limba body
3-piece Maple neck with White Wenge fret board.
Skjold active/passive electronics and pups
Low,Mid,High adjust - Pickup Selector,- Passive/Active select, Mid has Variable sweep, Special tone control knob.
Lightweight Hipshot tuners
Zero fret
35" scale length
18mm string to string spacing at bridge.
1 1/2" over-all string spacing at 1st fret.
1 3/4” neck width at 1st fret (see below)
Approx 9 lbs.
Strap locks

Mods:

Reduced the neck width to 1 3/4” at the first fret and 2 3/8" at 12th fret.
(nut modified to accommodate smaller string spacing also)
This mod gives the neck a real Jazz neck feel and makes it extremely comfortable to play especially for those who aren't used to a 5 string neck.

Added additional strap buttons - does not affect playability or integrity.

This bass also has the normal buckle rash and small dings and scratches on it and some dings from the previous owner as seen by the pics.

The frets have never been reworked, have normal wear for a 5 yr old bass and they still have lots of life in them.

The neck is in excellent condition -straight and rock solid. Low action and fast.

Of course it has the unmistakable Skjold quality and tone. This one is very versatile, I can dial in any tone I want easily from deep fat to ultra modern.

just curious, but did you have a luthier do the neck mods, or did you do it yourself (perhaps you are a luthier!)

I did the mods myself. I'm not a professional luthier but I have built 3 basses in the past. I don't have pics of them though, I no longer own them.

I love this Bass.
I love it because I love the playability, the tone, the looks, ....

I have to sell because I need the $ more.
