Skjold CS6 Fretless

Passing this bass along to someone who will use it. Hands down the most touch-sensitive, dynamic fretless I've owned, and that includes fretless Warwicks/Pedulla/MTD/Rick Turner/Roscoe basses.

Here's a link to the original owner's thread back in 2009:

NBD: Skjold CS6 Fretless

This bass would be over 4k today, and I'd like to get

$2500 Shipped to Contl US

I prefer Paypal and am not looking for any trades. Need to pay for a Modulus fretless which is nearing completion.

Argh, I'd been looking for this bass, but I'm sorely short on moolah. Good luck with the sale - this is a gorgeous piece!

Would you take, like, 25 installment payments of $100?

BUMP for a beauty, at a nice price.

Man, if this was an accepted practice I"d have a warehouse full of awesome basses, in which I'd be forced to live not being able to afford anything else!

If I had the money I would buy this one back for myself. Really hated to see it leave the shop.

Your work's pretty amazing judging from this bass sir!!! Balanced in tone and feel/asthetics, and extremely responsive and touch-sensitive. If I wasn't already committed to my Modulus order and if this bass had one less string, you wouldn't be reading this thread.

Question for ya on the pre: How exactly is does the 4 way switch work, and why is there a battery compartment for a passive design? To me the layout is very much out of the Jazz bass camp, but I didn't know if the battery cavity was there in case the owner wanted to later add an active pre.

Elmon,

I don't know exactly what is in the bass at the moment as the original owner might have modified it. It was originally outfitted with a redeemer which used a battery. But the battery compartment is there in case installing a preamp was desired. The 4-way switches I use gives you the neck pickup soloed , both in series, both in parallel and then the neck pickup soloed. Don't know for sure if this is what is going on now but most likely that is the case. I did not install the one that is in it.

BUMP

Having played on a Skjold 6er that a friend of mine let me play for a few days, I can say they are wonderful instruments! If I didn't have a Status Empathy 6 fretless I'd be finding out how to buy this!

To clarify on the EQ, from original owner: "for clarity, the current setup is VVT, constructed with CTS pots and a Sprague Orange Drop cap on the tone pot"

Don't know how the Redeemer circuit stacks up but either way this bass is a tone monster!

Bump for a beautiful bass, and for the fact that you are having a Modulus fretless built.

What are the specs on your Modulus?

If only Modulus made a Q6 with 19mm spacing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The specs are gone over pretty well in the post I made when I got the bass, but it's also worth noting that the string spacing can be taken from 17-19mm (when it left me, it was set at 18mm), and the neck is 2" at the nut. It's also worth noting that it can be set up to take crazy low action-it's by far the easiest-playing fretless I've encountered.

ElMon's a great guy to deal with, too-rest assured that whoever gets this won't be disappointed.

5string, semi hollow with walnut top, unlined, 19mm spacing with 34" scale. First time on the last two specs for Modulus.

I can't believe this is still here! Isn't this very similar to the model Erskine plays?

I saw that Modulus is offering the Quantums in 34" Playability is smoking on a 34. I'm sure the B will still be rather thunderous. Walnut will darken your tone some probably giving you a sweet lower mid range. Post some sound clips when you get it would you? I'm very interested to see how the 34 Q sounds!

And this bass is making me consider unloading my Empathy! best to not look any more
