Skjold Five String

Sign in to disble this ad
SOLD!

I'm selling this Skjold 5 that is in excellent shape. It's an earlier model made for an endorser, and would be similar to a Custom 5 in the current lineup.

It has a bolt-on neck, 35" scale, 24 frets with a zero fret. EMG soapbars and EMG 3-band preamp (with mids sweep). Black hardware including Hipshot ultralite tuners and recessed Dunlop straplocks (strap ends included). The body is Ash with a Paduak top. The neck is maple with purpleheart stringers and a Bubinga fingerboard.

I will ship it in either a Kaces hardshell case, or a new black gig bag - buyer's choice

SOLD!

Just to clarify ,

This bass was 1 of 3 ever made in my shop in Las Vegas Around 2002 . It was a prototype . The neck is much chunkier than the current models . It was giving to an endoreser in Nashville in early 2003 .

The specs are :

top = Paduak
Body = ash
fingerboard = bubinga
neck = maple purpleheart

This bass is an example of the earliest prodution models .

Pete

Pete,

Props to you and your awesome basses. Could the neck be re-shaped if the buyer found it too chunky?

I usually prefer thin necks, but liked playing this bass just fine. I asked Pete about it, and he said the neck could be reshaped pretty much as desired.

Before anyone decides whether to reshape the neck, can you--or Pete--give us the existing neck geometry and string spacing?

Thanks.

Here are the measurements I just took. They were taken with a pretty accurate ruler, not a micrometer, so they could be off by just a hair.

Bridge Spacing:

currently 68mm total, 17mm string-to-string

The bridge is an ABM or similar with adjustable spacing, so you could probably squeeze another 2mm total or so wider width.

Neck width:

at the nut: 1-7/8"
at the 12th fret: 2-7/16"
at the 24th fret: 2-3/4"

Neck thickness:

at the 1st fret: 13/16"
at the 9th fret: 7/8"
at the 12th fret: 7/8"

The fingerboard radius is very flat, but I don't know what it is exactly.

Pete's basses rock. Seems like a pretty smokin' deal for any Skjold to me, early production or not.
