SOLD Sadly, I bought this bass about 3 weeks ago, on the same day I learned two of my customers have backed out on 1-1/2 to 2 years worth of automotive restoration work, and I'm on the cusp of closing down my shop, and the guilt of the purchase is setting in. Here's what i know about the bass- which is very little-
-1974 (?) as sold to me by previous owner
-serial number 301673
-no sound from the electronics. I haven't tried diagnosing the problem
-Neck is straight and truss rod works. I cranked on it a bit to straighten the neck out when it arrived, and it lowered the action nicely. Plays smooth. It's a beautiful neck-
-Frets are nearing the end of their life, ie- pretty flat, but it still plays well. "A" string buzzes slightly at the 12th fret. Intonation is dead on up and down the neck.
-Knobs aren't original, missing the truss rod cover, neck pickup changed out for a mudbucker
-original finish, all crazed like beautiful old lacquer gets.
-no case
-never broken, cracked, etc. No body or neck repairs.
-this bass has had the p*ss played out of it, and it shows.
I bought the bass with intentions of fixing the electronics, and continuing the play the p*ss out of it. I've never had a Gibson, only played em in shops, where I couldn't afford them. I gambled on this one, and aside from the electronics, ended up with a winner, but unfortunately need to unload it.
I paid $400 for this bass 3 weeks ago (evilbay), and will only sell it if I don't lose any cash on the deal. $400 plus actual shipping. Paypal is fine- No trades right now- thanks
lot's of big pics, so have a look-
and yes, that's a black skull knob on the volume pot. Here's what you see when you're playing it and you look down-
