SOLD ON EBAY: Garz Singlecut 4 Custom (Ash/Wenge/Cocobolo/Bartolini/Audere)

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm starting a new thread as the old one got quite large, but at 1800 views still no final sale. This has to go, as I've got my eye on another bass and just don't play 4 strings enough to keep it.

Garz Singlecut 4 Custom – $1325 shipped, OBO! - Now on eBay! I'll end it for TB'ers at $1325.

Featured on the Garz Website. I think Mark Garza is improving in his craft, and he’s right to be proud showing this one off. Here’s one of the pics from his website:

Specs on the bass:
  • Swamp ash body with Wenge top
  • Mahogany and purpleheart neck
  • Cocobolo fingerboard (34" scale, 24 frets)
  • Bartolini Soapbar pickups (I believe these are the “deep tone” models)
  • 3-band Audere preamp (Vol/Bal/T/M/B, active/passive switch, Z-mode switch)
  • Hardware: Black Hipshot A-style bridge, Ultralight Tuners, recessed (Dunlop) straplocks
  • Weight: just under 8 lbs
Craftsmanship and playability is up there with the best basses I’ve played (Roscoe, Ken Lawrence, Sadowsky...) and I’d go as far as to say it’s the nicest fretwork I’ve seen. Sets up really low, no problem. It has a great neck (a sort of modern take on a J-bass) with a great heel design and a tight fit to the body. You really have to see this bass to appreciate the quality of the work.

Nice clear tone, and super versatile with the Audere. The woods give this a nice snap, but not too aggressive to pull off smoother styles either.

PICS: click thumbs for larger

Original cost around $2K. Condition is near new with just some very tiny nicks that are near impossible to photograph. I’m going to ask $1325 shipped in North America. Other locations welcome, but we’ll talk about shipping cost.

Send a PM with any questions. Thanks for looking!

This wouldn't have to go if I wasn't GAS-ing for another bass - but I am!

This is a great deal - the electronics and hardware alone are worth half of this, and you're getting Mark Garza's awesome work too

Hi there!

What "color" is the top of the bass, the pictures seem to show two different basses...

Sorry not to get back to you sooner. This is going to sound a bit silly, but the way the light hit the bass at two different times with different cameras made it such that:
-the wenge top and cocobolo fretboard look most accurate in the first two pics
-the ash back and mahogany/purpleheart neck look most accurate in the later ones (where they are featured more, anyway)

That's all on my monitor too... you know that pictures look different on everyone's monitor. The bass looks great, in any case - the wenge is rich and brown, until you get up close and see the real depth of the grain, and the cocobolo is just beautiful.

ok, I'm ranting... but it's really that great

Let me know if I can help with anything else.

Well, I'm glad in the sense that I can buy the bass I've been wanting Really though, it's sad that I couldn't keep it since it's a great bass, but it just doesn't do what I need these days.

I'll lock this thread as soon as I receive payment.

Are you finally getting your 6-string Roscoe fretless? I just picked up another Zon Sonus (this one is a fretless 5 w/bartop epoxy coating). Sounds/plays insane.

Well, close... it has 5 strings (so maybe I'll do E-C with a detuner) and isn't exactly the specs I'd choose if I was ordering new, but it is a good project bass (I'll be updating a few things to current Roscoe spec)

That Zon sounds crazy!
