This bass was previously owned by Oceansize and JoeySquid, both of whom can vouch for the bass. Oceansize had the mods done and can provide a reference for them. I'm borrowing a couple of Ocean's pics as well as some recent pics of my own. Here Ocean's FS thread from a few months back:

SOLD: Lakland USA JO 4-string w/ Nordstrands, Aguilar pre

Description:

This is an outstanding U.S. Joe Osborn 4 string jazz bass. It's in excellent condition. There is very light scratching on the pickguard. I recently noticed there are a couple of tiny hairline cracks in the pickup plastic casing. No big deal, but I'm a full disclosure kind of guy. Nothing else bears mentioning.

The bass features an upgraded Aguilar OPB-1 preamp and Nordstrand NJ4SE pickups. The preamp was professionally installed by Mike Lull. As you can see, the knobs are not original due to this installation. Also, the jack is now on the bottom of the bass instead of the front. The new preamp and Nordstrand pickups give the bass a more refined and punchy tone than the original passive Lindy Fralins. It retains a vintage quality, but with a boutique twist. And no noise, due to the hum canceling pickups.

Mike Lull also last set up the bass, and the action is low with no fret buzz. It has a slim neck and plays like butter. In total, the modification and setup done by Mike were over $600. A photo of the receipt is included, but I've removed the previous owner's name to protect his privacy.

Please note, the "ashtray" chrome pickup cover is included, as is the orginal passive tone control module and with stack knobs.

Transaction specifics:

The asking price is $1650 SHIPPED. Now willing to ship internationally, but you pay shipping obviously...

Does anyone feel as puzzled as I do that this bass is STILL here? Why is it STILL here?... Somebody do something so I don't have to think crazy trade offers up in my head.

Yeah...hey, I only charge $12 an hour to work on basses. You're probably better off with Mike at $70 though...

I agree...that is one sweet bass! If I had the extra cash, it would not be available any more, but alas....cannot spare $1600+ right now...
