Spalt M-401 "Pants Around The Ankles" Relist

OK folks, this bass has been up for a couple of weeks now and I KNOW TIMES ARE TOUGH but it's time for drastic mutant action. As the bass I MUST BUY will cost me $1895, the selling price is now...... $1895. Amazing how that works out, huh? I'm losing my shirt but I'd rather not go out of pocket on the new bass.

Here's a link to the original post with all the appropriate pics:

http://s802.photobucket.com/albums/yy305/dreambass/

One thing that the pics don't show well is that this bass has red FretFX LED's already installed. The light in my music-room, and the flash of the camera, wipe them out but they're actually quite bright. Feel free to steal a bass that everyone who sees it remembers...... plus it plays and sounds KILLER.

Dude, this is a very "different" kind of instrument. So, you can't expect to move it as quickly as a conventional bass. But, have patience grasshopper. Someone out there wants it.

"T-Most", thank you for your very insightful wisdom. You are most correct, this is a bass for the "informed". Unfortunately, I have a deal pending and I'd rather not dip into my reserves to make that happen. If I have to do that, no one will ever see this price again for this bass, I have no issue in keeping it. This is an "art-bass" that can stand the rigors of the road, unlike many costing 10 times the price. Hopefully someone will see what a steal this is. It's not for the Classic P or J player, that's why I had it built. I just like "different". I remember when I was in high school seeing a bumper sticker that said, "Why Be Normal". Made sense then, still does. Ken

Another suggestion ...For a bass like this post pics. Having to scour through old threads and photobucket links makes it really difficult and annoying.

once upon a time...

Just a thought, but sometimes a work of art is more greatly appreciated when the artist or the person who commissioned the piece tells the story behind it...

e.g. why? when? how? who by? how much? etc.

maybe tell the story, because whoever buys this will be asked all these things and more, many times over I would guess, and would no doubt like to know him/herself.

Ah those pics help. I "get" it now. That's actually a really cool design. Here's a free bump, and a suggestion to everyone to take a second look.

OK

OK, not a bad idea. Here are a few direct links that should give folks a feel for the "Michael Spalt Story":

I had a Spalt like this only a 5 stringer. Same PU's and electronics. It sounded amazing and I regret I sold it. These are great instruments folks!

I have a Spalt bass, as a matter of fact I have the vViper 2 shown on his web page. It was the first vViper he made after the prototype and was the bass pictured in his catalog for years.

All I can say is he makes a fantastic instrument. I have some very high end and vintage basses and this bass stands out among the best I have.

I have a feeling this must be sold, to bad I may have been a buyer...

Spalt

Yes thank you, my Spalt M401 is still available. The price as listed is firm as you'll NEVER find one for less or even close. If the bass I'm looking for sells, I'll pull it..... not to be mean.... it's just that this bass is that awesome. I'm trying to focus my collection toward an end goal and while my Spalt "says a ton", there's one other out there that does it better for my collection. That's the ONLY reason for sale! Swear It! I added the FretFX LED's, 100% reversible if desired with no issues.. it just looks a LOT cooler with Red Side LED'S. KEN/NY
