Spector Euro5LX and 2 G&L L2500s *** price drop ***

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been bitten by the double bass bug, so I'm making the rash decision to sell off some of my basses (even though they are among my most used...). NO TRADES. Thanks, but I'm not interested in trades.

First up: Spector Euro5LX. EMG DCs, Tonepump preamp (no trim pot). Excellent condition except for one ding on the neck and 2 surface scratches that will be buffed out. No HSC, but will ship with a bag. $875SOLD shipped CONUS. Unsure of weight - probably 10.5-11lb.

Next up is an all-original G&L L2500 Fretless. Pretty much pristine condition, and it plays flawless. Surprisingly thin (and very comfortable) 1/4-sawn neck with unlined ebony board. Will ship in the original G&L HSC. $HOLD shipped CONUS. 10lb.

Last on the block in this go around is my fretted L2500. This one has a birdeye maple neck/board w/binding. Super-stable neck, too. This has been modified with an EMG BTC Control (no pics yet, but soon) and independent series/parallel/singlecoil switches and volume controls for each pickup. Very versatile! I will include the original electronics, too. If there isn't much interest in the EMG preamp, I will probably reinstall the stock electronics and sell w/o the EMG. I've also replaced the failing plastic nut with a polished nickel nut. It's currently string E-C, but I'll restring it B-G if you prefer. Both tunings sound GREAT. Will ship in the original G&L HSC. $875 shipped CONUS. 9.5lb

Just in case anyone was wondering, you can go to the Rocket Music section of TB and spec out the same G&L's you see here. Couple of great deals on these guys.

This just has the EMG 2-band preamp, not EMG pickups. It is wired for 18V...

But here's a pic of the bass with the preamp installed and EMG knobs on it:

And another view:

Interesting. What does the EMG pre do for the tone compared to stock?

Honestly, I think it smooths it out a bit. There are different set points on the treble control, so I have it set up now to give a nice, clear, open tone with the treble rolled up. The stock treble boost is a bit harsh to me, but the EMG is a lot smoother. I also like the ability to roll back the lows a bit in series mode, and vary the amount of treble boost in series. The stock tone controls are cool, but I think the EMG is more versatile.

I really like both pickups in SC mode and the treble and bass boosted a bit - even more "Jazz bass on steriods". Or, for a thinner, cutting, jazz tone, roll the bass back a hair.

I'm still exploring all the options, but it's been pretty cool. I'm finding a LOT of tones in there.
