I bought this off a guy from Portland Oregon he had it awhile it’s been all over Portland, and was at the Hawthorne last night. It’s a great freaking bass, and amazingly light.
If you’re a gear snob and turn your nose up at a squier , your loss, sad thing is these were kicking ass on fenders and I rather have a SQ squier over any MIA fender of the late 70's early 80s because there more consistent in quality.
If you’re majorly concerned about cosmetics, turn back now
It’s been played, I think it’s a '84 but the PO said it was an 83. Black body, black guard and rosewood freeboard/maple neck. I believe it to be 100% original although can’t guarantee that, only mods is above the guard a thumb rest was drilled into the body, yes 2 extra holes have been drilled in the body.
It works great, plays great, sounds great and IMO looks great. Has a nice vibe going on. The paint is well loved, lots on dings, scratches and chips. Looks like at one point someone took the sharpie approach and touched up some stuff. However this is purely cosmetic, the headstock has some dings and wear on it, one tuner slightly bent although you could straighten it with little effort, I just left it as it’s hard to notice. The neck has such an amazing feel and a great board to it. SQ necks are great wide and flat boards. There is some finish wear and some dings on the back of the neck.
In summary it’s a Mojo queen but in no way is it trashed, well loved and worked instrument for almost 30 years. I see these go from about 450-600$, the high end is usually burst. I sold one over summer for 400$ locally that literally had 50% of the paint smashed off it and routed for EMG’s, this is way nicer compared.
