Stambaugh 5 string fretless

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm selling this bass for a friend who is not an online guy. He's someone I've known for many years. He's had this bass in his studio and it hasn't seen a lot of time in the the last 4 years that he's owned it. It's basically been sitting in it's case the entire time. (revised: see post 11 below. This is now my bass that I'm selling)

This bass is pretty incredible. Here's the lowdown:

Stambaugh Designs 5-string fretless, excellent condition. One piece figured bubinga body, wenge/bubinga bolt on neck, ebony fingerboard, mid-q shift switch, 3 Bartolini pickups with humbucker splitting switches for the back two pickups, Bartolini preamp. Crisp, articulate sound, lots of toneshaping options. Plays like butter. One tiny ding in the front facing, next to the bridge (you have to hunt for it to even find it). Think of this bass as a suped up warwick thumb that balances correctly.

$1400 shipped in the US. PM with any quesitons. No trades. Thanks.

Beautiful! What is the scale length, what is the string spacing at the bridge, and is it 24 fret?

This is the first time I have seen anybody use the Bart X coils PU's like that. I bet it works like a charm, they are wonderful sounding pickups. If they're humcancelling, I guess it would be like having a quad coil setup. That's awesome.

I think those are some of the best pickups that Bartolini makes for sure.

Ok folks, I hadn't realized that posting someone else's bass for sale was a no no....so I spoke to my friend and I've exchanged my recording services for his bass...the bass is now mine...I own it. You'll be buying the bass from me now. I'll be picking up the bass from him sometime next week. Thanks.
