Wink Status / Washburn Headless Series 1000 Bass (CHECK THIS OUT)!!!!!!!

Sign in to disble this ad
For Trade:

Got this because I really dig the look. Took it to rehearsal and my band mates didn't dig it. Too modern for them I guess (both in looks and tone).

These have REAL Status made electronics and hardware (bridge, tuners, "headstock", etc.

Edit: I found this cool video of somebody slappin the hell out of one of these! ---> YouTube - Level 42 All She Wants bass play along slap jazzfunk britfunk mark king status jaydee alembic

Balances GREAT! Overall it's in exceptional condition with the exception of two things: 1 - The hardware has some oxidation on it. You can prob use a metal cleaner to get it off though admittedly, I have not tried this (EDIT, see post #3 below from Bottoms_Up! for good info on this!). Maybe a brass polish? 2 - Under some areas of the finish on the neck and body, there are what appear to be tiny bubbles. They are extremely small and well under the finish. I don't forsee them being any issue of any sort and purely a cosmetic thing. It was prob just the way the clear coat was applied when it was made (too humid that day or ???).

Comes with the original case also in great condition. For some reason, most of these I've seen for sale don't include the case. Perhaps it was an option?

Anyway, looking for primarly US made basses (Fender, Musicman, etc). I'm OK on amps and cabs, so no need to run those past me.

Thanks!

These are really cool basses, had one a few years ago, some interesting features. The neck, while it looks like it might be graphite, is actually maple, and neck-through. The fingerboard is phenolic, and the pickups and guts are actual Status/ GMT items, same as what you'd find in Status' Energy Series of the late 80's/ early 90's. Truss rod is under the plate at the heel, and is super solid quality, similar to the Martin rod system ( round rod under a C channel).

As Quad sez, these are really clean and 'modern' sounding. Think Level 42 on a budget. Won't go well with an Allman Bros. tribute gig, but if you like to slap silly, this will cut like a razor. Controls are volume /pan -which works amazingly well- / high boost/ cut. And yes, it can use regular strings. No searching for double ball end strings.

Great bass and great seller bump!

.....hmmm, outright sale price?

I had one of these last year and it had the same oxidation/pitting issue Quad mentions above. In fact, it was really nasty.
I used a brass cleaner, some steel wool, and a little elbow grease and VIOLA!:

These things have killer electronics and play real nice. I tamed mine with some double-ball LaBella black tape-wound flats.

I kinda miss her. Somebody grab this before my brain starts rationalizing why I need this in my stable again.

These basses are awesome and well balanced
I have one currently and with a set of tapewounds can also have a very smooth almost P bass quality
never goes out of tune either!

Most of these indeed come with the case but I didnt take one with mine even though it was offered since
I dont have more room in my townhome

Quad's bass is also in one of the best conditions that I've seen too
most of them are really beat up but a little Brasso and some love and it will look perfect!

Man, I wish it had a sale price... I don't have a worthy trade.

It's another bass I've always wanted. And yes, stflbn, wish they made a 5, too!

I understand what you're saying here, but you might find it interesting that I actually *have* used one of these on an Allman Bros tribute gig.

I've had one of these for about 17 years..... Has a weird Treble control that is boost/cut as the only active control.... Works great though!

Nice basses

I had one of these for several years - very nice basses and build quality. My only problem with it was that the body edge was a little sharp and not rounded enough where my arm rested when I was playing and it was a little uncomfortable. That's just me and the way I play though. Like everyone else said - it is definitely a great slapper. I could get the tone out of this bass for any style of music that I needed. I still miss my old washburn / Status bass on occasion. It was green , but you could see the woodgrain through the paint - very classy. Good luck with the sale / trade of this bass.

If this were a five string, I'd be on the way over to your house. Good luck with the sale.
