Steinberger XM2A - For Sale - Many Pictures

Steinberger XM2A Late 1980's 4 string white. All original.
Original Stieinberger gig bag. Approximately 9 Lbs.

Price: $1,400.00$1,300. NEW PRICE!

Getting rarer by the day, and of course, Awesome.
Serial number databases are incomplete, but this one is from the late 1980's.

It plays very well and sounds like a monster!

A few dings and surface scratches, which one would anticipate with age. I tried to highlight these in the pictures.
The plastic battery/control cavity cover is very scratched.
The tuning keys are typically stiff, but I just put a little oil on them.

The only non original item is one of the strap buttons that had to be replaced (the original ones were made of plastic!).

There are no structural or electronic issues. The original EMG pickups sound so darn good.

the bass is a little yellower then the pictures show. The flash makes it look pristine white. To be clear, it is a white bass, not a yellow bass.

I love this bass and I am having a migraine listing it for sale. It is worth every penny and more.

Shipping CON US only and no trades please.

Thank you!

Mark

Oh yeah...had one exactly like it back in the day. WISH I could but there's just no way....

Are you the original owner? If not, do you remember where you bought it? (just curious to know if it could be my old one)

Hi
I am not the original owner, but I did own two previous ones in the 1980's as the original owner. A black and a white.
Bought this from some dude in NJ a few years ago.
Thanks for looking!

I wonder if that could be my old one. I bought mine at the old East Coast Music in Danbury somewhere around 88? or so and I'm pretty sure I sold it on consignment through them in the early 90's.

Whenever my son sees pics of one of these he always asks me why I sold mine and I never have a good answer for him.
GLWTS!!!

I've owned 4 of these and they are fantastic!! They sound absolutely killer and are extremely comfortable to play. I used to use LaBella black tape wound flats (double-ball) on my white one and it sounded and looked amazing.

The white ones are very rare, so this shouldn't last long at this price

GLWtS!!

Great price on a great bass.

I played an XMA2-5 from 1988 till 2010. I loved everything about it and it was always a joy to play.

Of course they are highly collectible all over the world. I sold mine for $2000 plus $500 for shipping to a collector in Perth, Australia (plus he had to pay a 15% tariff).

So yeah... $1400 is a very good price. And there is a big resale market so it's a good investment.

You can really achieve a nice variety of sounds out of these basses plus they are so comfortable to play. These necks are made of graphite and kevlar and they are smooth and fast.

Good luck with your sale

Mine was the black 5 string so it's not exactley apples to apples...

I had a hard time finding an vestablished "going rate" after much research.

They say it's worth what people will pay for it.

In the research I did your price is a nice deal for someone and your not getting ripped off either (in my opinion)

The frets have some wear but have a lot of life left in them. This bass was not played heavily.
Thanks!
