I have an STR LS549 bass that I recently acquired and it's an amazing bass. All the comments I've read about these comparing to, dare I say, and are even better than some high end boutique basses such as MTD, Sadowsky, Alleva, Ken Smith, Fodera, etc. The construction quality is Fodera-esque and you need to see this top in person I've never seen such a rich and vibrant colored finish in all my life and the grain from the maple burl is fantastic. The color is more on the blue-green side. It's been PLEK'd so of course it plays like butter and it's an absolute delight. As amazing as this bass is, I'm letting it go in search of 'my sound'.
The specs are:
AAAAA Burl Maple top w/ matching headstock
Ash body
maple neck w/ rosewood finger board
Trans blue finish
34" scale
24 fret
19mm spacing
STR stacked single pups (fantastic pickups!)
Aguilar OPB-3 with master tone knob (think Sadowsky VLC) and 2 toggle switches for active/passive and mid freq selector
STR brass bridge
I am offering this bass at $2300 and ask anyone, at this price this is the steal of the century. Lot of bass for the money
Trades considered:
Roscoe 5/6's
MTD 535/635
R bass
Brubaker KXB

Absolutely killer finish on that instrument!!! I always thought it felt, played and sounded like a Fodera. So why did I ever sell it...........

Maybe my brother Swpyne can help us out with an accurate measurement? Quote:

Seriously this bass would go "toe to toe" with a Fodera NYC easily. Great feel and top quality build. |
