Arrow Surf Green 1970's "Fender" MIJ Jazz bass. Wood block inlays.

This is my 1970's "Fender" jazz bass. All traces of year, etc have been erased over time.

I am sure the Fender guys will have a better idea of this.

I can't even say if it is a Fender for sure, but it sure looks like one.

According to a TB'er (and more to come, I'm sure) it's most likely a 1970's Made in Japan Fender knock off - Now this is NOT a bad thing !! I bet the dependable car you're driving was made in Japan. Made in Japan basses are pretty awesome, too. Both the Geddy Lee and Marcus Miller are made in Japan and those are two sweet basses.

It is definitely vintage 1970's though due to the pickup position close to the bridge.
The only original parts are the body, neck, and fretboard.
Replacement parts are all high quality.
- 1970's jazz bass
- Fender tuners, pups, cover
- 250k pots and chicklet capacitor
- Heavy duty wiring and strong solder joints
- Fender vintage knobs
- flamed maple neck, maple fretboard, black wooden block inlays
- Switchcraft input jack
- Ernie Ball Super Slinky 40-100's
The only issue is that I don't know how to replace the truss rod adjustor. I know the part only costs $10 dollars. It is a little worn out, but the neck is straight and the action is ok. It plays fine. I put a wedge under the neck to adjust the height, but I have since removed it.

This bass looks SWEET and sounds VINTAGE with a nice warm, round growl.

$399 $300 shipped I think is a good price .
No tire kickers, please. It's a waste of your and my time.

Probably a Memphis, Kent, or some other MIJ Jazz knock-off (usually the same bass, made by the same factory, but sold under many different brand names).

Definitely not a Fender, however.

Is that the original finish? Cool bass...
Are you sure it's from the 70's?

As a matter of fact, I did the entire bass. I took it apart and salvaged a near throw away bass. I redid as much as I could. I did the prep and finish and selected all of the hardware and did the soldering. It looks WAY better in person. It sounds fantastic, and it plays ok.
Thanks for the compliment !

By the way, I plan on putting on a Fender string tree. I ordered one and the holiday delays the mail, so I used a different one for the sake of photos at the moment.

bump and big price drop from $599 to $399 to be more in the right ballpark.

Its a Fender copy.

How does one adjust the truss rod right now? Or does one need to buy a new nut?

Well, ultimately, I'd suggest a new nut. I priced them and they cost $10. Not bad at all. At the moment, the bass plays great. I tried putting a shim under the neck and the action was too low.

If you're not a slapper, then you'll LOVE this bass. If you are a slapper, then I'd get it tuned up. I am not certain if replacing the nut is as easy as removing the old and adding the new. I don't know ANYTHING about truss rod stuff.
