SX Jaguar Bass - Nitro refin and relic

Sign in to disble this ad
This was one of my "quickie" projects, just for fun.

*SX Jaguar Bass
*Stripped poly and undercoat, Burgundy Mist nitro refin
*Reshaped headstock, BM nitro refin
*Rolled fingerboard edges
*Reshaped fingerboard (Took off the squared end, made it round like vintage basses)
*Relic/aged finish
*etc, etc

Like I said, this was a fun and quick project, so the finish and aging aren't perfect, but the bass looks great from a couple feet away. Plays killer. I'm posting LOTS of pictures so you can see what you get. Has a "F" logo on it, but it's on top of the finish so easy to remove. All the parts are "stock".

SOLD !

It will ship with the neck detached, and I'll toss in a set of Blue Steel strings with it.

Also, I'd definitely entertain trade offers. I have no idea what I'd want, so heck - feel free to PM me and ask !

oh man, nice job! I am a relic maker myself and gotta say it looks great. Too bad you didn't have time to do the tuners. I see the steel wool "stuck" around too lol..I hate that. Bump!

Yeah, it was a quickie "for fun" thing - If I were to keep it I would change the tuners and bridge anyway, so I really just did the body and neck.

PS - Did I mention what an incredible PITA it is to strip the color and undercoat off of these SX guitars ?

I didn't say "reshaping" was a pain - stripping the finish and undercoat off the body - that was a pain.

I dont get why anyone would report this. Can someone clue me in? I just think its a cool bass and I am sure sounds great as well. SX actually makes the best budget bass around. I have a couple and bought one for my son to learn on and I would not buy garbage for anyone to learn on and risk turning them off to music.

Hi Az -

I'm sure they reported it because I build and sell guitars and thought this was a violation of the Commercial User Policy.

However, according to the rules of TB in the Commercial User Policy:

http://www.talkbass.com/forum/faq.ph...policy#faq_cup

Quote:
2) Commercial Users who operate as dealers of used equipment, where buying/selling is purely for profit, cannot use the TalkBass Classifieds to advertise items for sale and must instead purchase a subscription to the TalkBass Bazaar. There are no exceptions to this.

Commercial Users who are owners / employees of musical equipment manufacturers / distributors / retailers may not use the TalkBass Classifieds to advertise items for sale, unless prior permission is granted when one of the following is true:
1. You are a manufacturer of musical equipment, and the item in question is not made by your company or a subsidiary. For example, you work for Fender and are selling a Lakland bass.
2. You are a distributor / retailer of goods, and the item in question is not one your company / division usually handles. For example, you work for Guitar Center and are selling an early 80s Aria bass.

An occasional exception to this may be made for individual users (as long as permission is sought before posting in the classifieds, as stated below). For example, you work for a store that sells Fenders, but wish to sell a used Fender instrument personally owned by yourself, on a one-off basis.

These are guideline rules, and not a blanket authorization. Any Commercial User, or any member with a commercial affiliation in their profile disclosure field, must request prior permission for any thread they may wish to start from time to time in the Classifieds section, before posting.
These requests will be dealt with on a case by case basis, and any Classifieds thread started by members in the Commercial User category without such permission may be deleted without notice.

It's a good policy that ensures dealers and builders don't abuse the Classified section.

Even though this is clearly an SX Bass, and not one that I built, I had contacted Josh prior to listing and asked his permission to post it, which he was gracious enough to do.
