SX Jazz (old headstock)

Sign in to disble this ad
SOLD

Just picked this up as a backup, but then scored another backup that's better for me.

It's an SX Jazz in 3 tone Sunburst w a maple neck/fretboard. The neck was stripped of the orange tint and the headstock decals were removed. The pickguard was a little marked up, but has been painted flat black and looks cool as hell now. I will try to get pics up later tonight.

Will include a nice quality Fender gig bag and a Levy's strap.

$125 shipped

-John

EDIT - I added a pic of the headstock at least...

Did you put poly on the neck after you stripped it?

I actually wasn't the one who did it, but yes, it was finished (not left raw), and the neck is smooth as silk...

Nice, what a great modding platform. I've had issues in the past with the SX necks. Dead spots, ect... How would you rate the neck... and is the body alder?
Thx, Hawk

The neck is great. It's a little thicker and rounder than I prefer, but it's not really 'thick' (I like 'em thin). It is VERY smooth, he did a great job on the satin finish. The body is alder and the finish is very nice.

Oh, and I should mention that the pickguard is being held on by only 2 screws because that's all I had. The dude before me had removed this pickguard (which was originally white) and used it as a template to make a replacement pickguard out of an old Neil Diamond record (not kidding). When I got it the new 'pickguard' was held on with blue masking tape (which left NO residue), and the original pickguard was a tiny bit chewed up around the pickup hole and had some red marker on it from the process. I painted it flat black and it looks VERY cool now, as you can see, but I only had 2 spare pickguard screws lying around.
