Howdy all,
I am selling a rare and no longer manufactured Taylor AB-2 acoustic bass. It is a 2000 model – the top, back and sides are imbuia. It has a Fishman pickup system with internal battery and tone/tone/volume control.
I have played this bass at restaurant gigs over the last 4months and both the sound and the unique look always garner very positive feedback. It is a dream to play plugged in or unplugged, neck is perfect and frets are in great condition – I currently have it strung with flats.
I love the bass, but I recently aquired my dream bass (NS CR4M) and am playing that on all my gigs. I am also badly in need of cash for a new laptop - typing this on an old junker

.
I have the original tan soft-shell case, and will also include a brand new custom made gigbag by craftsman Glen Cronkhite (forrest green w/ black leather) that I just had made for my bass a month and a half ago. Taylor doesn’t make the bass or the gig bags any more, so I had Glenn make one custom… a $250 value alone. It is super sweet - Glen said there are only two in existence.
If you are reading this, you probably know all about the bass… I’ll skip the Taylor history. It looks like the bass has been selling in private ads and on Ebay for between $1800 and $2400.
*** Disclaimer ***
The bass was damaged during shipping by a previous owner… the lower bout was cracked and repaired. The repair is noticeable if you are close up... and it is ugly. I am sure the repair can be redone by a luthier to where you wouldn’t even know there was damage. The rest of the body is in decent shape... it is definitely a player, not a collector piece.
The bass sounds and plays perfectly… the damage in no way effects the sound or playability. It is merely cosmetic, and due to the color and grain of the wood you are unable to see any problems from a few feet away.

Due to the cosmetic blemish, I will sell the bass and both cases for $800 firm. If you want a pro instrument at an insane price, this is your bass.
I would really prefer not to ship... if you really want the bass, you will need to pick up packing and shipping to your location, but it is a BIG bass.
Thanks for your time, and have a great day.
