This bass is gorgeous and sounds like a bass twice its price, but I'm just not a huge fan of flamed maple anymore and am already GASing for other things - you know how it goes. This is a USA-made Millennium Plus 5 string. Made in approximately 2000 or maybe 2001.
Color is a sort of teal/turquoise... looks darker in pictures than it actually is. Blue-green, very pretty. Body is alder (I believe), flamed maple top, solid maple neck and fingerboard with heavy birdseye figuring on both. Nice "gun oil" neck that is fast and smooth. Abalone dot inlays sparkle like jewels on the fingerboard. 35" scale for nice tight low "B." Black hardware and J/MM pickup configuration. Preamp offers a ton of tone-shaping options. Only flaw is that there is a little play wear (darkening) on the back of the neck and the sides of the fretboard. Not really that noticeable at all but I thought I'd mention it. Also, the volume knob doesn't rotate evenly - dips just a tiny bit when you turn it. A few minor scratches here and there but no chips or dings that I've found. Other than that, this baby is in excellent shape, nearly new-looking. I will include the original plastic molded Peavey case. There are chrome straplocks (Schaller) installed but I don't have the other pieces. I do not have the original buttons. If you care about the strap buttons matching, you may want to pick up a black Schaller or Dunlop set - I never played this bass live, so I never bothered.
Don't really want to sell it, but we'll see if anyone bites. $600 shipped. 48 lower US only. Sorry international buyers, I've just had too much trouble in the past. No trades.

USA made and adjustable strings spacing.
Mine's set at 17.5mm.

Granted, the birdseye ones are harder to come by, but not custom. This one and the 4-string version I owned both had crazy birdseye. I would keep it, but I'm going to get my birdseye/abalone fix from the Stambaugh I have brewing so this one can go to another lucky TBer. But someone needs to buy it before I change my mind
String spacing looks to be about 18 or 19 in on mine - I prefer a little bit wider spacing. I've never tried adjusting the spacing but it appears it can be done. Quote:

If I were a five string player, I'd buy it!
Good luck with the sale, Tim! |
