Tobias Model "T" bass Pre- Nashville

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello to All,

I'm selling this one to fund a GAS purchase....you know the deal....whoever gets this one will not be disappointed!

I have for sale a really nice Tobias Model T 4 that was made around 89-90 before the company moved to Nashville. There were only 110 made as stated on the Michael Tobias Website in the "History" section. http://www.mtdbass.com/

They were made by a "well know East Coast Luthier" that was contracted out to catch the Tobias team up on some orders.

These basses were actually made by Mike Pedulla of Pedulla basses. (I have emails from Mike Tobias confirming this, I will include them.)

*Please note'*This is NOT a Korean Toby Pro!

The serial # is TB025. At some point the preamp was switched out for a 90's Bart preamp that was available on Gibson Tobias' at the time. (The pickups are still the originals)The original TCT preamp's, from what I've read, were prone to a lot of problems. The newer, 90's pre was a professional install, very clean. See the pics....

-Solid Birdseye maple body wings
-3 piece hard rock maple neck, rosewood board (looks more like Pau Ferro to me)
-Bartolini electronics.

Note in the pics....Straplocks were removed and original buttons are back on. The bass does not come with the drop D tuner, original tuner was reinstalled.

Absolutely a killer bass. Sounds amazing! Lightweight, very comfortable and easy to play.

Its in Excellent condition and comes with a hardshell case.

I would like to get $1500 OBO shipped to the lower 48 states. These are pretty rare, remember, there are only 110 of these ever made.

I will ship internationally, but contact me so we can talk about shipping and price.
I take PayPal if that helps.

Might be open to trades, but cash is king on this one. Any questions, feel free to PM me.

Thanks for the comments guys...it really is a beautiful playing bass, just looking to change it up a little.

Might trade for a US G&L or a Lakland DJ....never owned any of those two, would like to try them.

More Info

FORGOT TO MENTION...the bass has an internal boost pot that can be adjusted for more gain. The adjustability and tone of this bass never ceases to amaze me!

Nice bass i have owned 3 in the past and they are decent sounding basses.
I do have to say from looking at the pic that the Original electronics were replaced.
The Model Ts came stock with Bartolini TBIBT pre-amp which is a single module bass and treble cuircuit with no midrange or adjustable gain. Its a 4 knob set up with Vol,pan, bass and treble.I have a copy of the Tobias Model T specs from Burbank Ca that i can email if you wish.
Bump....

Thanks

Hey basspro how've you been? Thanks for the bump. As mentioned in the original post:

"At some point the preamp was switched out for a 90's Bart preamp that was available on Gibson Tobias' at the time. We've spoken in the past about this bass, if you recall. I believe you sent me a picture of that Mike Tobias work order, but I can't find it on my computer. If you could post it here, I would greatly appreciate it!

Famous, doing well thanks,,You are correct about the problems with the TBIBT'S i had 2 Model Ts with the same problem. One pre-amp was making scratching like sounds and the other was making poping noises. The newer pre-amps are more dependable!!
Are you referring to the specs sheet??

Yes, I believe it was the spec sheet. I had a copy you had sent me awhile back, but I lost it in a computer crash

Trades or Offers

I have had some inquiries about trades:

Very open to trades, straight up or cash on your/my end.

I would favor 4 stringers, but you could run a 5 stringer by me. Ya never know. Interests right now include:
-Sadowsky
-Lakland DJ's
-G&L L2000 s or others

Send me what you have...
