Trade 1998ish Stingray (Birdseye Maple) for Stingray 5
I am interested in trading my Stingray S4 for a Stingray 5. There may not be a safe way to do this through Talk Bass but it is worth seeing if there is any interest and then go from there. Obviously I am not going to ship my bass without receiving another one first, so not sure if it will work. I have an 11 year track record on eBay with 100% feedback thus I am not a crook.
ALSO, would LOVE to trade local and I live on the Central Coast of California. I frequently travel toward Southern California and Northern California (LA, Bay Area, and Sacramento)
I believe both "used" values to be the same based on my eBay history search. The the late 1990's Stingray with "all maple birdseye" neck seems somewhat desirable thus making it equivalent in value to the current Stingray 5 H model. Do your own research.
I will just sell it on eBay and buy the 5 string if nothing pans out or if "trading" on TalkBass ends up being a bad idea.
Not interested in any other trades!
Usually its best to ship both basses on the same day during a trade, and send tracking information on the day of shipment. I have had good trade deals that way. Of course, Local is also the best way to trade :)
It's going to be a tough deal to trade with someone who has Zero feedback and requires that they receive a bass before shipping theirs out. But hey - your Stingray is looking pretty nice! And I think if you provide the trader with your EBay seller ID it would help them to see your recent sales history.
I have had amazing experiences with the TB community - it's a great place to deal. Good luck with the trade. :bassist:
Good input Maguire! Not sure what Pmd means Bassman28 (i am new to the forum). I totally get it Maguire and that is why it may not work out. I am going to rewrite the ad in hopes to find someone interested in California for a local connection. I frequently travel to LA and North to San Francisco (also going to do Craigslist).
Question regarding shipping basses on the same day. Couldn't a person just provide tracking info on a generic or false item?
Yes, the bass is awesome and it seems to be quite rare. Could not find ANY Google images of my bass from the same era with the same color scheme, neck, and pick-up combination?
I have been wanting a 5 string for a while. Thought of keeping the 4 string but not really that attached (i know many regret selling instruments).
I have traded, bought and sold a ton on here. Even more than feedback shows. Never has there been an issue. I can't speak for everyone but my opinion is that of, talkbass is a community. Your concern is valid, but likely your trade experience will be awesome. I cannot tell you what to do anymore than the next. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Bridge appears to be from a later model.
Good luck regardless.
Sorry, date correction
The bass is a late 1990's model. SORRY
