*Traded!*
*UPDATED with better photographs*
*UPDATED AGAIN with an AUDIO SAMPLE*
I've owned this bass since late 1999.
I don't really want to part with it but I think it's time for me to try something different.
I'd be willing to part with it for the right replacement.
And for that reason, I am posting this as a trade feeler!!
This is a Franken-P/J bass.
I call her "Blondie" cuz, well.. she looks like a Blondie!
The previous owner told me that the body was of the aftermarket variety, but I've never felt comfortable enough to take the neck off and check to see who the manufacturer was. Body looks to have been finished at home, due to some slight artifacting that looks to have collected in the finish on the horns while it was drying hanging up. There is a ding on the lower horn, which I just noticed while taking photographs.
The neck: 1983 Made in the U.S.A. Fender Precision.
Super high gloss finish, all original hardware.
When I first bought the bass, the neck had already begun to show signs of darkening a little with age..
And of course, it's gotten even darker as the years have gone by. It's looking quite sexy these days!
Excellent condition, with the exception of some very small pressure dings on the thumb side of the neck (about mid-way up the neck) and the typical few dings on the end of the headstock. Tuners are still super shiny, the string tree could use a good cleaning.
Active EMG P/J pickups, of the older variety, in perfect working order. The white EMG text on each pickup has worn away, for the most part.
Missing one of three (the middle) tone control knobs. Popped off at a show back in 2001.
Unslotted (

) Badass Bass II Bridge installed.
Here's the kicker: my crazy drunk ex-girlfriend attacked this bass with a kitchen knife one evening back in 2005.
There are 3 scratches on the bass due to this, one is near the tone knobs (starting on the pickguard, ending on the body), one starts on the upper horn (ending most of the way down the top of the body), and one (the smallest) is right above (and running parallel to) the neck pickup.
I am glad that woman is out of my life, as you could imagine.
But talk about some major mojo.. how many people can say that their instrument survived a knife fight?
I have made an impromptu album on PhotoBucket showcasing all of the good and the bad here:
Blondie pictures by cataract - Photobucket BETTER PICS: More Blondie pictures - Photobucket LISTEN to this bass, recorded professionally: Blondie in the studio!!
Most of the pickguard screws could use replacing, if you're keen on showroom shine.
It would seem that I've focused more on what's WRONG with this bass than what's good about it.
Just want to make sure that everything is out on the table, if that makes sense.
This bass sounds and plays amazing.
It could use a good once-over with some polish and a diaper

but it's been my main instrument for almost 12 years now.
I've never had a problem getting a vintage sound out of it.
Tasteful use of the J pickup + active electronics = instant hi-fi glory, if need be.
Also included is a deluxe Fender bass case- light brown tolex exterior/gold plush interior.
Down to the nitty gritty:
I am looking for a Gibson Ripper bass, in decent condition.
Other basses I'm interested in:
G&L / Stingray / Grabber
Fender Jazz / slim necked Precision
+OHSC would be a big plus.
Willing to throw in a Tronographic Rusty Box and/or a v2 VT Bass pedal to sweeten a deal..
(will NOT sell or trade pedals separately)
Hit me with ANY offers you may have.
Seriously.
The worst I could say is.. wait for it... no!
