I'm looking to trade my 2009 American Standard Jazz Bass and my American PRS CE22 for a nicer guitar. I've recently switched over to Double Bass as my main instrument and I'd like to have just one really nice guitar and one electric bass. I'm in absolutely no hurry to move either of these, as they are fantastic instruments. This is just a feeler to see what's out there. I'm really looking for a really nice Les Paul and I'm partial to singlecuts in general, but I will definitely entertain other offers. Here's a description of what I have to trade.
I recently picked this up off of TB and the newer Fenders are everything that people are making them out to be. I absolutely LOVE the new finish. The coating of Poly is ultra-thin, which helps the resonance of the instrument and I think the the light poly let's it breathe better than nitro, plus it doesn't get sticky. The previous owner stated that pickups are Nordys. It had a preamp in it when I got it, but I switched it out for a passive setup from Butch over at Bayou Cables. I just didn't use the preamp, the bass sounds too good passive! They've really upped the build quality on these too. The neck pocket is nice and tight and the overall fit and finish is on par for a custom in the $2000 range. I recently setup it up with medium/low action and DR nickel Lo-Riders. It plays and sounds great! I'm going to rate it at 8.5 out of 10 as there are some minor dings and dents, including some small dings on the bottom edge, but it looks like a brand new bass from a couple feet away. It'll ship in a gigbag.
The guitar is a mid-2000's PRS CE 22, not to be confused with the Korean SE line, and it's absolutely killer. It's a cross between a Les Paul and a Stratocaster. It has a mahogany body with a beautiful carved flame maple top. Unlike most PRS's this one sports a bolt on quarter sawn maple neck with a really nice Indian rosewood board. The pickups are PRS's Dragon II's, which you can coil tap to single coils, and the rotary pickup selector was replaced with a 3-way selector switch. I really can't rave enough about this guitar. The setup was professionally done, I don't mess with guitars, and it's impeccable. Playability is top notch and you can easily go from stat to Les Paul with coil tap. I really can't say enough great things about this guitar! There are two dings on the edge, the ubiquitous wall mount marks on the headstock, and some ultra-fine scratches and pick hazing, but nothing that isn't just general player's wear. It will ship in a hardshell case, but both of the locks are broken. The middle latch works fine.
As I previously stated, I'm looking to trade both of these for a nice guitar. I value my instrument at $2000, I've researched them both and that's a competitive price for them, and I'm looking at a trade in that area (plus or minus cash). Unless local, feedback is a must. No gingers please.
Michael
