Trade feeler: My Stingray 4HS for a MIA Jazz

Sign in to disble this ad
I am in no hurry to move this, but I am considering trading my 2006 EBMM SR 4 HS for a Fender MIA Jazz 4 stringer, +/- cash...depending on the trade.

The Ray is in near mint condition. I have oiled/waxed the neck every 6 months. It sports a Hipshot D tuner which I will include along with the original tuner. 3 pickguards (white pearloid, tort and black), along with the OHSC will be included as well.

The Ray has amazing tones. There are NO issues with G string volume in this baby! My hands are getting cranky over time, and I am looking for smaller neck basses.

Please PM me if interested. Thanks for looking!

Since this is a trade feelier, and my comments will only help your efforts, I feel compelled to say...

You're nuts!

I own the same exact bass, even down to the hipshot and 2 pickguards (but no tort), and I once had the fortunate opportunity to A/B a mid 70s Jazz with the Stingray in a band situation. The drummer in this (funk) band kept pushing his Fender on me. I finally said bring it to rehearsal, he did, and the Stingray danced all over the Fender. Even with tons of EQing and volume tweaking (yes I know the Stingray is active and the Jazz isn't), we couldn't get the Jazz to keep up. The dude never bugged me again after that.

I believe a Stingray HS can do all and a whole lot more than the Jazz, but it's your feeler. I know there's Fender love and MM love and sometimes the love is mutually exclusive. Good luck.

Joe,

I have had 4 'Rays over the years (including a 30th Anniversary and a 4HH), and this is hands down the best of the bunch, IMO. I am in no hurry no move it. It's a simple matter of a Jazz bass being easier on my hands.

I suppose I could open up trade for a SLO Special Stingray

Resistance is not futile -- it's voltage/current.

How's about an EBMM Sterling Classic? If you've not played one it has a thinner neck profile then the Stingray -- more like a Jazz. I have one listed FS/FT right now here:

FT/FS: EBMM Sterling Classic, Vintage White and Birdseye Maple

PM me if you have any interest.
