Trade Feeler: my Yamaha TRB1006 w/HSC for your 5 string

Sign in to disble this ad
I've had this bass for at least 5 years and I almost never play it. I just don't feel at home on a 6 string. It took me forever to save up for it, Guitar Center special ordered it for me, and then I had to wait because it was on back-order.

It has never seen a bar gig. I've had it out to a handful of rehearsals and a few worship band practices and performances. It's pretty, it feels nice, it sounds nice, but it just doesn't feel like home. I almost always play my P-bass. If you look at my profile and see my influences, you'll understand what I'm saying.

I'm looking to trade my TRB1006 for a 5 string. I was considering putting an extender key on my P-Bass, but I'd rather not. I want to give a 5 string a try.

Also, I'm getting a dSLR camera and I'll be needing a light-loving lens. I've been doing a lot of live music photography lately and will probably need an f/1.4 lens or an f/1.8.

Make me some offers. Here are some photos of my bass with the hardshell case. Just as a point of reference, this bass goes for $899 new and the case is $110 new. Specs are available here: Yamaha Website

*edit: for whatever reason i can't link to images from my flickr account so i posted attachments. the hardshell case has one small scrape on the back edge, nothing major. i'll try to figure out the image linking roadblock and post more images.

Any sound clips of this bass? I love the sound of the older TRB6P with the narrow pickups, but I haven't really played many of these. Is that "Yamaha TRB" sound in there?

I have a 5 that I *might* be willing to trade, but this is a whim, so I can't say for sure...

I have a trade pending, but I do have 3 sound clips on this page. At the time of recording I had the bass strung with TI Jazz Flats. I also used a hint of fuzz to give my sound a little grind.

The 3 clips labeled "active" are the Yamaha. The "passive" clips are my P-Bass.

I played with my fingers for the recording and I really dig in hard when I play. I don't know if these clips show the true character of the instrument because of the flatwound strings, my playing style, and the fuzz pedal, but it's all I have right now.

Cool. Thanks! Even with the flats and fuzz, I hear "Yamaha" enough to know it's in there.

I'll keep an eye on it and if the other deal falls through and/or I decide make a trade offer, I'll let you know.

Good luck.
