Trade Feeler: Rob Allen MB2 Fretted 5

Here's a beautiful example of a rare and early Rob Allen (SN: 053) in excellent condition. A very special bass that isn't for the normal Joe Schmoe bass player. No offense if your real name is Joe Schmoe. But if one of the following describes you:

You're a Rob Allen addict...
You have everything except a Rob Allen...
You've always wanted a Rob Allen but you're scared of fretless...
You've always wanted a 34" scale Rob Allen (I literally waited years for this to show up)...
You want an amazing tone that no other bass can reproduce...

Then this bass is for you! Read on.

One piece ash body, padauk top, cocobolo fingerboard, highly figured maple neck, strung E to C. Rob builds 35" standard on his 5 string basses now, unless you pay a hefty upcharge for 34". I took advantage of the shorter scale length and strung it with the high C. I visited Rob's shop a couple of months ago and had him go over the bass and do the conversion. Plays wonderfully and sounds magical. Oh if only you could hear it sing.

But, I'm putting it up because I need a more "normal" bass to go into the studio with, so please keep that in consideration when you make your offers. Having said that though, this bass is still incredibly versatile and will cover many, many styles of music. Just ask the other Rob Allen guys...it's not just for jazz.

I will also consider a straight sale somewhere just under the $2k mark. We can talk.

If you're interested in a trade, I would like:
Fretted 5 or 6 string, although I will entertain a 4 if it's a really sweet P of some sort.
34" scale with wide string spacing at the bridge like .75" or 19mm.
Something that tracks really, really well on tape.

Thanks for looking, here are some pics.
