For Trade - Fender US PJ Black/Maple

Sign in to disble this ad
Up for trade is a PJ that I built up for my son who now wants a skinny neck. Specs...

Fender 62 RI Body
Black, routed for J, top load bridge, shielded, side jack, couple of marks nothing major.

03 US Maple P neck
Recent fret level, rounding off of edges, rolled board, removal of some gloss on the back of the neck. Straight as an arrow, truss is good.

Pups are Lindy Fralins all pots new.

Two sets of hardware: original silver, and a black set of generic replacement tuners, knobs and bridge, Black Dunlop strap locks (original silver ones also).

Two guards: original bwb and a control-knob-only black by Chandler.

Bass weighs in at 9lbs. Comes with a decent gig bag. Sounds like a good P should. Very responsive to players touch going from traditional P when played lightly to growling nicely when digging in with both pups active to the bopping bridge pickup J sound when you dial back the P. Plays great, action goes as low as you'd like.

Better pics to follow when the boys camera is charged up tomorrow.

------

Looking for...
Fender US J, or 62 RI or
MM Sterling or
Sadowsky Metro

No bursts, or natural, nothing weighing more than 9.25 lbs.
Will add cash appropriately for the trade, talk to me.

Thanks,

AA

This bass looks awesome, so why not just drop a jazz neck on it??

Thanks BB,

This bass does smoke, I drove my luthier nuts whipping it into shape.

Dropping a neck on is definitely an option, but the bass is very redundant in my collection.

You built that beauty for your son and he looks a gift horse in the mouth?

Good luck on your transaction. That's a fine bass.

Thanks! In all fairness he's been playing it for a couple of yrs. (he's now 14) and has started to develop his own taste as opposed to what Dad tells him is good for him.

There are a couple of skinny necks in the house which he is gravitating towards but under no circumstances will I let him leave the premises with (vintage and Sadowsky's) and we have the P thing covered well, so I thought it would be a good swap all around.

Engage757,

Thanks for the offer, but we are going to hold out for a J or possibly the right Sterling.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! well, good luck... also, if he wants a skinny neck with j pickups, my growler is the skinny asymmetrical neck with two j pickups, OHSC, and all paperwork/case candy! weird guitar, never seen one with two Js, but I have all the paperwork to confirm what it is! just a futile thought, but thought I would try!

Hi,

I'm living in Montreal too, and I would have a Sterling 2003-2004 (not sure) Desert Gold, in excellent condition to trade. Just some questions:
- Where was the RI 61 body made?
- Is the P neck a modern C 1 5/8" or an old 1,75?
- Is it possible to meet to try the bass?

Thanks
