Turner Electroline Fretless Five-string LEFT-HANDED

Sign in to disble this ad
Let me tell you, if this were a right-hander there's no WAY I'd be selling it.

I've sent the serial number off to ex-Alembic (and it shows - look at that headstock) luthier Rick Turner for more info, I'll update this thread when I get it.

The Turner Website says this:

Quote:
NECK:
Neck upgrades include bird's-eye maple and optional 5-layer contrasting veneer laminate on back of peghead. Other options include unlined fretless fingerboard and left-handed construction.
This bass has ALL of these options. Birdseye neck, lovely veneer work on the back of the head, left-handed unlined fretless.

One pickup, plus piezoelectronics in the saddles. 18V preamp. Birdseye Maple neck, finished unlined fingerboard, with what look to be abalone markings on the side. 35" Scale.

Head Rear
Fretboard
Birdseye Neck
Piezoelectronic Bridge
Serial Number
Side Markings

For a good enough offer or trade, I will let this beauty go.

Trades must be right-handed though.

To give an idea of value, I've seen them selling online for £1600-£2000. (US$2,839-3549) I'd put this in the upper bracket of that, as it's got quite a few of the optional extras. Veneer work, piezos, birdseye maple, all that.

Original fitted hardcase included.

Downsides: BED and G are fitted with Groundwounds, but the A-string is missing.

Some mild scratching at one point on the fretboard - only light, and only cosmetic. You could sand it off if it bothered you.

The obvious drawback - I'm in the UK, and buyer pays postage.

Drop me a PM or post if you're interested, have an offer, or a question. Or just feel generally lonely and want to talk for the sake of it.

Beautiful bass, Alex. The pick-up position and the piezo bridge probably make that sound as good as it looks.

Good luck selling it!

Perhaps it wasn't all too wise to try and sell this while a big thread entitled "Beware Turner Basses" goes on - but for anyone who was just skimming through, that was really denouncing Rick Turner's attitude, not his craftsmanship, which is top notch.

Just think of this as a way to get a Turner bass (cheaper) without having to deal with him, if he is as bad as people seem to be making out.

My housemate just got back with his fancy dan SLR camera, so I've got a few more (better) photos to share.

Any questions, or if you want any specific pictures, just let me know.

Edit: That mark on the headstock is just a smudge, not a blemish. I should really have wiped it down first.

Afraid not - Cardiff, UK.

Shipping's doable, but might be a bit painful. Which is why I listed it on bassworld.co.uk before talkbass - but I can find out how much it'd be if you're interested.

Well spotted.

If it's a dealbreaker, I can buy a new packet of strings for it, of course. If I can find somewhere to get individual strings (within the UK) then that shouldn't cost much, after all.

Now my guess is it's either the potential shipping or the left-handedness that's putting you all off...

Rotosound's are cheap there, aren't they? Slap some of those on there. Great strings.

A bit of a specialised market, but hopefully you'll find someone soon enough!

Eh, I'm not worried, it's not been up too long.

If all else fails, I'll get some local music shops to give me a quote, and then put it on ebay with that figure as a reserve, see if the bidders of the world can beat the music shops.

Bump.

Any comments, questions, insults, death threats, just let me know. I'd rather not put it on ebay.
